  1. tell us about your side/fun projects

I quilt (and sew) a lot, almost every day.
  2. $3.67

client claimed to have an invoice from last fall sitting in front of her, and she said she would send it to me. i know who did it... they are a company who claims to sell wholesale, but they will sell my end-user the same product for the same price they charge me. As a matter of fact, they...
  3. $3.67

That is what a competitor is charging a square foot for storefront window perf, INSTALLED. And it wasn't even a large area, it was two 52" square panels. Why do people do this to themselves and to us. :banghead:
  4. I'm officially retireing from doing race car lettering!!!!

Did the ad really say "FLORSCENT"?
  5. Would you please express your opinion for pricing?

3/4" Duna board is $5 sq ft? My supplier doesn't carry it, but I wish they would!
  6. You want vinyl for your Cricut?

We don't have "scraps." We keep a small box of cut-offs that are large enough to warrant not throwing away. I will sell vinyl off the roll, but I charge a min of $20. I'll also resell entire rolls for 2x my cost.
  7. Signvox frustrations. Any long time users around?

I don't export to QB, so I can't chime in on that. BUT you can make your own "catalog items" for things that have set specs and a set price. For example, an 18x24 Metal Real Estate sign with polymetal faces probably is the same price no matter what you do to it, and it can be set up as a catalog...
  8. Shop Bot on Ebay from the State of NY!

I wish I saw that last week!
  9. I feel like I get electrocuted everytime i run composite aluminum through laminator

I hate when we cut polymetal with our panel saw. Plastic shards EVERYWHERE. Sometimes I have someone stand next to the person cutting with a spray bottle and mist water into the air as we cut in an attempt to decrease the static.
  10. Can I sell these legally?

He could actually make them for free, and then charge for installation. And what I meant was OP is not mass producing decals to sell through retail or wholesale venues, "resale".
  11. Can I sell these legally?

You are not producing them for resale. That is where you get in trouble... selling something with a logo or brand that you do not have the rights or permission to do so is an issue.
  12. Cut vinyl with air channels

Avery HP700 Calendered film has EZ apply in White, Black, Yellow, Red, and Royal Blue.
  13. New Vinyl Requirments Coming

I call BULLSHIP.Please show me a link where the EPA regulates any workplace VOC issue.
  14. How many employees do you have / How long have you been in the business?

8 years, its my husband, myself, and one almost-full time employee. If it gets really crazy, I call in our (retired) parents. Ha.
  15. Need help with choosing right vinyl for a job

We use Avery HP700 Calendared vinyl for this kind of job. The prices on this vinyl went down about 20% in the past month or so, I would suggest picking up a 24"x10yd roll of white and a roll of black. We do car doors like this multiple times a week. There is absolutely no reason to print...
  16. Do you care if your suppliers become your competitors?

I think that when suppliers start offering things like CNC, they are not going after your clients. Instead, they are looking to expand their offerings to their own clients, shops that may not have ever even attempted a dimensional sign until it was quick, economical, and easy enough to do so...
  17. Need Engineer Drawing for a Polymetal Panel

A local town is requiring a stamped Engineer / Architect drawing before we can install a polymetal panel on the stucco facade of a building. I'm a little speechless about how brainless this is, particularly when the official noted "wind load" on the application. At the last trade show I went...
  18. Window Vinyl, Sign Permits and Customers Service

We ignore the whole "window etching must be on the inside of the window" part of any sign ordinance. Its a stupid rule, particularly if the windows are tinted, and we have NEVER had a client come back to us for not conforming.
  19. Refunding a deposit......from 5 years ago????

I'd have a hard time refunding it because its been so long. Although plenty of people would wish it so, I'm not a bank. I'd make them a sign at 2014 prices, and obviously credit them $1400, but I would not refund anything. That is why we collect deposits. What if Amy S. turned down another job...
  20. Refunding a deposit......from 5 years ago????

I would have said no way to a refund.
