  1. New shop van wrap design

On more than one occasion, I've taken a picture of a sign with a phone number. I take pictures of things I want to remember all the time. I would be hesitant to leave a phone number off a truck... Last week someone came in saying they got a phone call while sitting at a light from the car...
  2. My Rant for the day

The only error I see in your ways is that many people only have online portfolios.... Including my business. If someone wanted me to show them a portfolio, I'd direct them to our website, facebook, or instagram account. Also, if they have a resume, it will be electronic anyway, so you might as...

  4. Why no love for East Coast sign shows?

I'm not trying to get into a pissing match with you, but you specifically replied to someone who mentioned the Javits Center, which is in midtown Manhattan, the most expensive city in the US.
  5. Why no love for East Coast sign shows?

Not the fact that NYC is the most expensive city in the USA, right? Blame those union guys who are trying to feed themselves and their families. They are the bane of this country.
  6. Anybody else "bloom" your coffee?

I get my coffee every morning from a local roastery, and lemmetellyou, that coffee is so freaking amazing. It never tastes as good when I make the same exact beans at home. I'm going to try to bloom the coffee next time to see if I can get a similar experience. I've been drinking this epic...
  7. Unattended Customer Pickup?

set "office hours" and stick to them. hire a receptionist erect a shed (or box) with an easily changeable combo lock, and leave items inside for pickup charge a delivery fee we have never found it hard to get clients their signs. I make it very easy for them to come pick up completed work...
  8. Looking for a quote on a T shirt job.

You should try Blue Moon Promotional, they do great work, and even have a pricing calculator. http://bmpromotional.com/
  9. Paper Application Tape Problems, HELP

Did you try doing it dry? ... Also, it looks like that is just soaking wet app tape, you should be able to remove it from the vinyl. Perhaps you just need to wait for it to dry off a little bit? Why are you doing this wet anyway?
  10. Avery 1360 overlam

I'm sure this sounds insane... Laminate application tape to the Laminate, and then run the app-taped laminate onto the vinyl. This is how we laminate it using a big squeegee, and it works well.
  11. Can i keep using our old graphtec?

Yes, absolutely you can. Its hard to explain, so I drew a quick diagram...
  12. It's okay to not make every change to a design that others suggest.

When someone is being overly picky about color, I tell them to bring me a sample of the color that they would like us to match, and we will come close to it, maybe not match it exactly, but come close. No one ever takes me up on the offer.
  13. Pricing help. First time pricing this big of a project

I think that is a little low in price. For just one, I'd probably be closer to $2K. I don't know if I would discount it that much for larger order since the entire job is quite labor intensive.
  14. Stripping old banners

Gino, you have major reading comprehension problems. Did you even graduate from High School?
  15. Stripping old banners

Gino, you are always assuming things. I never once said "I don't laminate perforated vinyl." Go back and check that thread, and perhaps answer the question that I asked with FACT, not opinion. In this case, you also ASSUME that I sell super cheap banners. Which is also not true... Does not...
  16. Stripping old banners

Apparently none of your clients have ever heard of the internet. "What?? How much is that banner?!? I can get the same thing online for $28!" And for the most part, they can. If someone wants a fancy, long term banner and wants to pay $10+ sq ft for it, I'm game. But since we started offering...
  17. To Laminate or not-window perf

And don't forget every single one of these guys.
  18. To Laminate or not-window perf

So if the law actually exists, and you personally know someone who was cited for having their rear-windows obstructed, PLEASE prove it. Seriously, everything out of your mouth is worthless if you can't back it up with fact. Unfortunately, anecdotal evidence is pretty worthless.
  19. To Laminate or not-window perf

Don't tell me "its the law." Cite the actual law, including statute numbers.
  20. To Laminate or not-window perf

I agree. I keep hearing people say "OH DOT Regulations require 50/50 perf" yadda yadda yadda. Who is the regulating body? The state? If you claim to be going by the book, then you should be able to at least cite what book you are talking about.
