  1. color matching a gradient

I wish I had that luxury. This has got to go out tomorrow, and she keeps changing things. I will not be able to get her a printed proof.
  2. color matching a gradient

I have a client who sent me a file. When I sent her back a jpg proof, she says "the color is too dark." :banghead::banghead::banghead: This person is a graphic designer / art director. I literally sent her back the file that she sent me, I just exported as a jpg. I don't know what to do. I...
  3. New laser cutter cuts HDU into signs

Now I really, really want a laser!! Kudos! quick question... Does it just pulverize the foam? I don't understand how that works.
  4. does static cling go bad?

I read on here a few months ago that Static Cling DOES, in fact, go bad. I think someone said that it only has about a 6 month shelf life. I wish I knew that before I bought a whole roll to do a small job last year. Oh well, lesson learned.
  5. Me vs The City....

I've done a quite few jobs in the town that I live in that were not bid on... They were actually purchased by a private group, with private funds, and placed (with permission, of course) on public land and buildings. The city had nothing to do with them beyond giving an okay. The sign you...
  6. Need a cheap, small laptop to run CorelX4 for new laser cutter

what kind of laser did you get? I want one so bad!
  7. Print "Wholesalers"

We do dimensional signs all the time. Actually, we are one of the only shops around that does them in-house. BUT If I sell them to the general public at the same price as I would sell them marketed as "wholesale to the trade", I'd be a jerk.
  8. Print "Wholesalers"

You're the best! I just quoted someone for some 1C lawn signs yesterday, hopefully they will come back with a deposit. Your website (that I must log in to) is so user friendly and straight forward, I don't ever have to second guess my quotes. Thanks for making it easy for us to stay competitive...

  10. Canvas printing profiles, consistent prints and general tips

we are printing today on some polyester poplin, it didn't look so hot, so we just did a double strike on the ink, and now it looks great. i don't work the printer, so that is all I got for you... but i'll be keeping an eye on this thread for future reference!
  11. Print "Wholesalers"

I want to punch two different "wholesale to the trade" print companies near me in the FACE. Why? Because one of them claims to be "Wholesale Grand Format Digital Printing for the Trade" and they show their detailed pricing on their website... & I'm quite positive they will sell at those prices...
  12. Be careful what you put your name on...

I love installing signs on not-yet open businesses. We ALWAYS get questions like its our business. No, I don't know when they are opening, No, I do not know if they are hiring, No, No, No to all of your questions. I'm just the sign girl, I don't know anything.
  13. How much digital printing warrants buying a printer?

We are really happy to have our printer. At least once a month we get a rush job that justifies owning the machine. And the more prints you outsource, the more you get back that are crap. I was sick of relying on others to produce a quality print. A few words of advice... don't get a print/...
  14. Banner support Assistance

you should call and ask, they may be able to do it in 10 ft.
  15. Banner support Assistance

here you go we've used the 36" ones and they are awesome. edit: it only goes up to 8 ft, you may have to use two or make the banner shorter
  16. Looking for help with a Graphtec FC7000 cutter, (solenoid) seems to be bad?

i think we had a problem like that that we literally solved with a drop of olive oil. a few years ago, our cutter wasn't playing nice. after talking to multiple people, Dave at Beacon Graphics suggested we remove the blade cartridge thing, take the blade out, and then put a few drops of...
  17. how would you do this?

We most likely wouldn't worry about the edges and I'd be inclined to use cut vinyl. You would need a 48" roll for the red and star, and a 30" roll would work for the blue. I can get Avery HP Cal in 10 yd rolls for a total of about $100. If you don't feel like buying the vinyl, you can print/...
  18. Working something out?

I have a few thoughts on these jobs... First, ask them what their budget it, and use that as a starting point. Maybe they have $10K they want to spend, but if its only $200, I don't do site visits. If a job is more than 5 minutes away, I always make sure the client knows our minimums. Next...
  19. Problem customer accepted installation on Friday, now says color is wrong, etc..

We have very few clients on terms, and not a single one would behave this way. There are plenty of customers who claim they have to go through AP, so I send them the invoice ahead of time (which I always do anyway,) and say that I need a check or credit card at the time of delivery. If they...
  20. Problem customer accepted installation on Friday, now says color is wrong, etc..

You should be paid the balance. If you accept partial payment, than you are admitting that you did not do a proper job. Also, why didn't you get a check before you left? Also, GET IT IN WRITING. Seriously, I have clients who I will not do anything for unless they click the "approved" button in...
