  1. Can I laminate Stainless Steel to PVC?

I called one company who sells mirror polished ACM, and they said its mostly an indoor product... Outdoors it only has a 3 year warranty. Have you used it outdoors for longer than that with good results?
  2. Getting Ready to Take the Plunge -- What to Do About Health Insurance

That is really unfortunate, I hope that you can obtain a more affordable plan in 2015. I also want to note that health insurance companies decide their rates on their own. They could have brought their current plans into compliance without overcharging their customers, but they choose to...
  3. Can I laminate Stainless Steel to PVC?

I have a job where the client loves the look of Polished Stainless steel, but the price for fully fabricated letters is too high for him :( Can I cut the design out of both rigid gloss PVC and Polished stainless steel, and them glue them together for added dimension? Do you think it will...
  4. Getting Ready to Take the Plunge -- What to Do About Health Insurance

Did you get those rates from the Healthcare Exchange website, healthcare.gov? Or were those the rates directly from the insurance company? There is a HUGE difference between the two.
  5. Getting Ready to Take the Plunge -- What to Do About Health Insurance

I have the same experience and outlook as you. I LOVE MY AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE PLAN. As with ANY insurance plan, there will be things that are covered and things that are not covered. My plan is awesome, and is about 1/4 the total out of pocket costs (and more is covered, too!) of an equivalent...
  6. Screw Reciever Thingy

You get the prize. That is how I found them two months ago, I just couldn't remember the term I searched for. Thanks a ton!
  7. Screw Reciever Thingy

those would most likely work... What are they called :) thanks.
  8. Screw Reciever Thingy

I have a job where the client needs changeable panels on a stucco wall. I want to use those screw receiving insert thingys but I don't know what they are actually called and my google-fu is lacking today. Specifically, I'd like a 3/4" deep, stainless steel piece that I can drill a hole and...
  9. Raster Image countour cut

i don't have a roland, so i'm not sure if its the same thing... but usually you need a vector outline in addition to the raster image in order to do a print/cut
  10. Is education the answer?

I was talking to a project manager about why there is no "sign union". There are SO MANY different types of sign shops, and I'd bet there are at least 25 small shops (5 or less employees) for every medium to large sized sign shop. Not only that, the outfits that are manufacturing and installing...
  11. Which size Laminator with 54' Printer?

I agree. Get the larger laminator. We have a US Tech, and its great. Good luck.
  12. Temporary Exterior Sign

We can get 4x12 corex sheets, but I don't think that will look any better than a well-installed banner. Did they have a budget in mind for the temp sign?
  13. 3m wrap film took off paint...

We just re-lettered a truck, and when I mentioned to the body shop that we prefer to wait a few weeks after its painted, they said their paint is baked on, and its hard the next day. The vinyl went down fine, but if they ever take it off, I'd be surprised if it didn't pull up some of the paint.
  14. Facebook Page

Instagram has gotten us multiple new customers. Our facebook page is mostly friends and family, which is nice, but we don't get much business from them. Our instagram account on the other hand, is golden. We are followed by many local businesses and have perfected our hashtags to gain more...
  15. Avery Strike.....AGAIN

Did you cut immediately after printing? Is it laminated? The ink needs time to cure, and if you cut any vinyl before the ink has dried, the material will curl. We use Avery all the time, and LOVE it.
  16. Ahhhhh.... where'd he go now...................... ??

We have (or maybe had) a client who is ALWAYS looking for the best price. Honestly, they are a company that if you live or have visited the northern half of the Jersey Shore, you probably know who they are. They have multiple stores, are a household name, etc. So we started doing work for...
  17. help! largish job pricing

IDK, a rough estimate would probably be between $9K and $20K. edit: I'd like to also remind you that you need to add extra for an administration fee. Whenever I get big jobs like this, I spend probably twice as much time setting up and getting the artwork approved as we do actually doing the...
  18. help! largish job pricing

are they cut-vinyl? can you even put cut-vinyl on a brick wall?
  19. Pricing 4x4 signs?

stick to your guns. i had a person who was insisting i do work for a larger discount than I had already given him yesterday. I told him to take the quote home and think about how much his time was worth. If contacting a different sign company, relaying all the information of the multiple signs...
  20. Logo Design and Providing Multiple Options

When I do layouts, I almost always only give one. When my partner does layouts, he likes to give them 3 or 4 different things to choose from. Guess who's stuff gets approved on the first try most often?
