  2. advice

Dorton, I've been in this business for a while - and a lot of people here were in this before I was born. There are two kinds of race customers. 1. The person owns a car, and wants you to wrap it/provide graphics in exchange for him allowing you the privilege of putting your logo on said...

  5. Pricing install subcontractor

Adam is right - any seasoned, professional installer is going to cringe at 30" panels. The more seams there are, the more there is that can go wrong. I do this kind of work all the time on a sub basis, and i would be in the $3.25/sf range, assuming that the trailer doesn't have 9 million rivets.
  6. Red Printing Hot Pink

Did you run the last one dry, or was it in the middle of a cleaning cycle when it ran out of ink? If so, and there is SOMETHING coming out of the yellow nozzles, then there's a good chance that you have some cross contamination of your ink lines. Try doing 3-4 little charges and see if that...
  7. Red Printing Hot Pink

You can do that, or better yet, just do a nozzle check and see if the yellow is firing at all.....
  8. Short rant...

It isn't honest negotiation that bothers me - I can deal with that. It is the way that some customers treat you with a total lack of respect - as if you aren't a professional. Just yesterday I had a client make his FOURTH call to me over a two week period. Started out when he walked in the shop...
  9. Prepping Clients Mentally - Avoiding problems

Here's the reality - you have total control, it's just a question of whether you want to exercise that control. Here is how I handle EVERY design project. 1. On the initial consult I go through my portfolio with the client, allowing them to ask questions about the processes that I use to...

  12. Printing On Coroplast Possible?

If you are looking to outsource, most places are only cost effective if you are doing 10+ pieces. Insignia Signs is a merchant member here and they do great work.
  13. Printing On Coroplast Possible?

If you want to print directly to a substrate you are going to need to invest in a different printer...

  15. Installation question

Problem with a frech cleat is that this needs to mount flush, or pretty damn close to flush to the wall. This is a "Hall of Fame" sports board for the local Christian university.
  16. Installation question

Thanks guys - JHill - much appreciate the link. Will be going that route.
  17. Installation question

In combination with VHB/Silicone? I don't trust drywall anchors with 24lb sheets of polymetal....lol
  18. Installation question

I am going to be mounting a 3'x16' 3mm polymetal sign next week. It is an indoor install, and it is going on finished drywall. The issue is that the "studs" are those aluminum struts, and are narrow and not spaced appropriately to anchor to. My thinking is that I will use a combination of VHB...
