  1. Streaking from the rollers on VP540- argh

Nope- definite color change. I just laid it out and it is 16' long- no wonder it took so long to print- my daughter laid it out and I thought for some reason that it was 12'. I think I am going to skip the center rollers until my experience dictates otherwise. Gene
  2. Has anyone 'profiled' RIPC?

Yahah- I am still on 3.1.2- kinda hanging back in the bushes waiting for the wrinkles to get worked out. I guess I am not an early adopter, huh? I will run a new ghost of my rip puter and give it a try next week. Thanks Gene:rock-n-roll:
  3. Streaking from the rollers on VP540- argh

I have never had this particular problem before- printing a 4x12 banner with a light tan background and I get slightly darker streaks wherever the center rollers are. I ended up taking the rollers out and had no problems with the 12 foot long print- do you all use the rollers? I don't with...
  4. Has anyone 'profiled' RIPC?

You callin' me an Old Person (it is true):scream:? Kidding. You recall correctly I have an i1. I have made workable profiles that I use with Vworks and would certainly do it that way- but how do I 'utilize the RIPC mode'? That is exactly what I am trying to do. Thanks Gene
  5. Has anyone 'profiled' RIPC?

So... if I start with an appropriate RIPC profile and add my own ICC profile to it to match my ink set... it might work. Does not the icc 'tune' the color to the ink set and media? I am seriously seeking info here btw. Thanks Gene
  6. Has anyone 'profiled' RIPC?

I started to try to modify a Roland RIPC profile to play nice with my Triangle Ink set last spring- but haven't had time to spend since then. Has anyone else had any success with this approach? I am not sure if the RIPC profiles have something related to RIPC in them or it was the firmware...
  7. Sp-540V media feeding crooked

Is this a new problem? If you are just starting with the printer make sure that the printer is level- I would think that that could cause a drift to the low side. And the rubber separating does not sound good- I read somewhere that the outer rollers are slightly conically shaped for tracking?
  8. SP 540V Encoder/wandering prints!!!!!!

The only problems I recall with my SP were encoder strips and modules- got pretty good at R&R and flipping the strip over. With my VP I took the plexi door off as soon as I got it (at the advise of my Roland tech) and I have had no problems so far. I have talked to someone with the same...
  9. Maintenance Cleaning Qs

Yessir- that is it- I got a little more elaborate, I took the wipers out to clean them, also the wiper scraper and removed the sheetmetal box to clean more thoroughly. My VP is quite a lot easier to maintain- except for 4 heads to clean in a rather awkward position. Gene
  10. Flexi-Sign...who uses it? Poll??

I love it, have used it since version 5. We also have Omega, signlab, AI for some reference. I expected this to be a Flexi-haters dogpile- surely there are many more people that don't use than use? I kinda like it when they froth at the mouth and get all twitchy about what a POS program it...
  11. Maintenance Cleaning Qs

I got 2 cleaning cartridges with my SP300 (also with my VP540)- I am still using the 2 orig carts 3.5 yrs later- stick a blunt needle on a syringe in the rubber port and withdraw- lasts 2-3 cleanings. There was a good cleaning procedure on printingdigital.com for the SP- someone explained how...
  12. The Ultimate Guide to Fixing Banding!

I have a VP540 and bought the roland version of Wasatch (after using the small format version for my SP300- and loving it) and Wasatch could never get it to print without banding. Finally had to switch to VersaWorks to get a good print. Wasatch of course gave me the old 'too bad, so sad'...

Hi Doc- I guess we can be friends if you drink beer? Gene

  14. What is it with laminate?

I always thought that would be good too- when we buy lam for our Edge print vinyl it comes 13" wide- the print is 12" and you cannot cover the perfs on the edge of the vinyl if you are going to contour cut it.
  15. How to drop out back ground from photo?

Mask Pro 4 does an incredible job of masking hair etc- actually does transparent images like a gauzy ladies garment- check the video demo below- it is on sale now (one more day) for $130 with the code (MP43). I have tried the download demo and it is great...
  16. Technical Help

Same here- I printed several things from San Diego last Xmas vacation- had my employee load the printer and I set up the file and ripped and printed it. Couldn't figure out how to run the laminator tho- she had to do that.
  17. Estimate Software

I have used 2.0 for almost a year and like it- I don't know if they recently changed their support program but support is time limited unless you buy a plan: Free Technical Support Options The following options are always available to you, regardless of which product edition you are...
  18. VersaWorks crashing- still

I posted on Rolands site in Feb about 3.1.1 crashing- now 3.1.2 still crashes, do they have anyone who cares? Gene
  19. Gerber Edge blade holders in SP/VP printers

I have several blade holders for my Edge and a couple for my VP- I like to dial in a blade for a material and be able to leave it alone. Anyway- just realized that the Edge blade holder will fit the Roland, altho I had to make a spacer out of a washer (about 1/16") to correct the headspace...
