  1. Going to SGIA for the first time.. I got some questions

You can dress however, polo and jeans is fine. I have not heard of any Signs101 meet up. Well, it's Vegas so what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, as they say.... The one thing I didn't like was the high prices they charge for bottled water (I think it was $4 or $5), so I plan to bring a few...
  2. Wraptacular

Good post Pat, I like what you had to say on the subject! :thumb:
  3. Sprinter disaster - what's next?

The video was produced by Arlon under their Wrap It Right series, and Ritchie Daize does a great job explaining how to Wrap It Right. Here is another good video on how to manage HEAT and TENTION when wrapping a vehicle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU3lneyhaCU#t=18
  4. Sprinter disaster - what's next?

Most people heat the vinyl in the channel and this will lead to failure (like you photos), the vinyl in the channel is the weak-point, so it should NOT be heated and stretched. Heat the vinyl away from the channel so there is NO stretched vinyl in the channel. See the attached video for how and...

  6. Wraptacular

I like your scenario, makes sense except for one thing, the sale flyer is NOT from a small 1-2 person shop. It came from a decent sized sign shop with a good web presence. Here is a screen capture of there October Special wholesale printed wrap price.
  7. Picking up a Roland SP-300V on Monday....

Yes it's slower then the newer machines, however if you get it setup right and have the right profiles, you will be able to print your inserts on the right photo paper. I agree, I would keep the other cutter and use it for cutting vinyl, use the 300 as a printer. Good luck and keep us informed...

Hey Doug, good to see you on here again, for a long time I didn't see any posts from you, so welcome back, (or maybe you been here and I just didn't notice)? Back on topic, I'll have some Loco Moco, (I wish, I haven't had any since being on the island in 1970)....

  13. Roland Ink Warning!! Yellow Cartrages Containg Magenta ink!

So what does Roland have to say about this snafu? Is it a RARE occurrence were someone accidently attached the wrong label, or is this a MAJOR problem were an entire batch is wrong, and they need to do a major RECALL? Roland what do you have to say about this????????
  14. Industrial Sewing Machine

I was right were you are the last two years, and I did a lot of research on this site and others. Lockstitch is preferred for banners so the thread does not unravel like chain stitch, as mentioned It's better to get a machine with a compound walking foot to pull the heavy vinyl as the hem is...
  15. Sewing the hem edge on vinyl banners?

BTW: I have been posting these issues on LEATHERWORKERS.NET also, as they do more sewing then the typical sign guy, and here is what one of the sewing experts had to say: If you want to sew with #69 bonded thread, use a #18 (110) needle. A #150 needle is waaaaay too big! It is meant for #138...
  16. Sewing the hem edge on vinyl banners?

Yes, I cleaned everything very good when I got it home, Thanks
  17. Sewing the hem edge on vinyl banners?

Well, several people have told me the bigger #150 needle is to big for VINYL banners! And all thread charts say to use a #110/18 needle for #69 thread, and that's what I have in the machine NOW... Yes, I will set the bobbin back as it was when I got the machine and see if that helps...
  18. Sewing the hem edge on vinyl banners?

Yes, I installed a new #110/18 needle per the needle Mfgs thread/needle chart for #69 thread. The machine came with a new box of 100 #110/18 Organ needles. I think the needle is installed properly, there is NO flat side, the MSK-1245B uses ROUND needles, however the manual says to install the...
  19. Sewing the hem edge on vinyl banners?

Well, I thought sewing a hem on a banner would be easy if I got the right sewing machine, (which I did), now however this tension adjusting is biting me in the but. The guy I purchased the machine from sewed leather and tents, so the machine will handle banners without any problems, however the...
