  1. Are we a weakening industry? And is it our own fault?

LOL... Unfortunately the bad eggs made an impact on you OP. I think there are several designers on this board in each genre whether it be hand painted or crafted signs or digitally created pieces that are extremely talented. I agree completely with Joe you are either good or your not and you...
  2. Are we a weakening industry? And is it our own fault?

I to will reply to this later as to what I think of your questions. You bring up some very good points. I do not think it is a weakening industry but I do think it is a damaged industry. I think the biggest reason for this is people now buy based on price and not quality. Unfortunately it is...

  4. Brands of The World no Logos????

Neither one of those logos are all that hard to redraw. If you can't do it perhaps the Vector Doctor could give you a hand. Thanks, Kurt Dietrich Speed Media
  5. Mimaki Cutter SUCKS!

AMEN BROTHER!!!! I am not at all impressed with this POS Mimaki Cutter. I have a CG and have been able to cut some longer files but only with large bleeds sometimes as much as 60 points! It is no more than a overpriced paperweight. On top of this anytime I need a part or I need service on it...
  6. 4over

I've had good success with 4 over. I've only had a couple of problems and one of them was my fault. I did however get an angry phone call from a client after receiving his printed postcards to find they had printed the same image on both sides...lol They fixed the problem and re-printed them...
  7. Cyrious WRAPS!

Me to that thing is way cool. Not sure if they entered the 3M Mustang giveaway contest but if they did and they lost to what they did the judges need some work. Article in the wraps mag is pretty interesting. It give a little insight to Sergio which shows he knows "Wraps" quite well. Refreshing...
  8. LHF - The $1000 font (Take a look, good read)

Ok, I understand they are upset as well as they should be but this happens everyday and they should have something in place to prevent it. I mean how many times has a marketing agency sent fonts over to you for a project? I have it happen quite a bit. I guess I don't see why they should punish...
  9. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

I clean my Mimaki every day it is used by going through the normal routine. I also clean it if it sits idle for more than two days. I am just now showing a bit of nozzle clogging in my yellow test print and plan to do an hour long flush tomorrow to see if that clears it up like it has for others...
  10. DELL.....what a joke....

Yet another reason I love Apple, I get to talk to an American that can actually pronounce my name correctly and I can understand. Although I am sure that will be short lived with the way things are going. Thanks, Kurt Dietrich Speed Media
  11. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

Yeah, I am following your motions and doing a head wash as well. I got her set up for 20 minutes to see if that does anything. The head cleaning from what the book says uses a "cleaning cartridge" I think that is the same as the carts that come with the printed for flushing the system but I...
  12. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

lol.. I am trying to do a nozzle wash or head wash like you are doing.. Thanks, Kurt Dietrich Speed Media
  13. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

Ok, I figured out the "Fill up ink" under the maintenance heading. Tried that and still have a couple of bad spots on my test print. I want to do a head wash but the instruction manual is not very clear about what solution to use. Do I use the same carts that the tech cleaned out the printer...
  14. Mimaki Is Banding, Bad Test Cleans

How do you do a fill up ink? I just had the same problem today. Thanks, Kurt Dietrich Speed Media
  15. Advice needed...

If I where you I would look into a 30" Mimaki printer or a Roland. Either of those will beat out the Mutoh hands down with speed, reliability and quality. If you come across something that is bigger just sub it out for the time being until you can afford to upgrade. Thanks, Kurt Dietrich Speed...

  17. Are the Daige Quickmounts really that bad?

I don't have any type of laminator and sub mine out when needed but I am in the same boat. I fee like a lot of this equipment works only as good as you know hoe to use it. I thought my Mimaki was a piece of crap at first until I learned how to properly use it. That being said I think I will buy...
  18. Are the Daige Quickmounts really that bad?

I am with you on this buddy... I have been looking at a Daige to do some laminating of wraps and the like, we just don't seem to have enough business to spend $8-10,000 on a new laminator especially with how everything is going in Michigan, might just sell of everything go back to design and...
  19. Should they honor their price?

They should take the hit on this for sure. It is their mistake. Kindly tell them if they won't honor it you will find someone else to deal with.. Thanks, Kurt Dietrich Speed Media
  20. Where are these graphics from?

I am guessing that is airbrushed, looks like something for American Racing? It looks to good for Aurora or any of those other clipart cd's out there. BTW-- Yeah the girls may be sleazy and bad actors, but to me they are fun to look at...:peace!: Thanks, Kurt Dietrich Speed Media
