  1. Logo

That last one is pretty good. Or make an arm with a mountainous looking bicep. Really glad you posed the greyscale pix CG to better illustrate the lack of contrast.
  2. Facing Major Surgery #17...

Thinking of you, Arlo. You may have lost your omentum but don't lose your momentum. And I will happily give you some of my soft velvet gunt via transplant if you like. Love....Jill
  3. Do You Kern?

So where are our little voting buttons dammit?
  4. Logo

Maybe if you like Janice's "Homer Simpson" chesticles... OK Back to the topic, sorry.
  5. Logo Re-design

Or this. (I really hate Hobo, used to use it for hand-painted garden center signs) I used Flashscript and a Becker font.
  6. Layering

In Corel, this is how I do it. I won't dazzle you with terms like kerning or welding or converting to curves. You can use any shape you like for the registration points, I prefer something with corners to help me line them up. Remove the registration points afterwards, unless you want your...
  7. Logo Re-design

...that's something like what I saw in my head too. (insert Twilight Zone theme song)
  8. Do You Kern?

Never. ..of COURSE I do! I kern almost everything. I fiddle around till it just feels right. Sometimes I even over-kern. When I first got a sign program I merrily typed away and stuck everything as-is. I was so used to hand lettering I didn't notice it at first because I was not...
  9. Logo

While it's not a bad start, it lacks contrast. You need a thin white contour around your words. The font looks like you've really put the squeeze on it. I would not use the same font on your subcopy, use a simple sans serif, even Futura Condensed. If something has a face, it should be looking...
  10. Logo Re-design

I agree, neither one is cohesive as a name. I would do them a favor and come up with something great. I'd go in the retro direction, like an old theater marquee. Some of them were really amazing. Even the old masks of comedy/tragedy would get people thinking of a theater. Love....Jill
  11. Sign Gold Question...

Yes, I have used it. It's easier to cut and weed, and far less costly. But it doesn't look nearly as nice (in my opinion) It's kinda honky-tonk/flashy looking...sort of a rainbowy kinda cast to it. It doesn't have as long of an outdoor durability as SignGold. It's kind of like Payless hooker...
  12. Customer bought logo from me. Wants it as MS Word file

I send them every option I can think of, usually with and without text if there is an icon and also (I hate this) with and without phone number. And black and white too. But invariably I still get a call "Can you send such and such to such and such?" Just happened today...thanks Mainframe. :)...
  13. Waxing before or after?

Only use cast vynull on vehicles, especially your own. I always match the quality of the material to the substrate on which it will be applied. Love....Jill
  14. Id please

I thought maybe Walkway Rounded But Noooo. (John Belushi voice) Love....Jill
  15. Sign Gold Question...

I was always told that nothing will stick to the (tedlar?) top/clear layer of SignGold. You can also edge seal using 1-shot's UV clear and a fine brush. I think what's in the Seal-It pen is Frog Juice. I wouldn't put a clear layer over the SignGold for any reason. Love....Jill PS I can't seem to...
  16. Banner and Taxicab

Hooray for you for being a good sport about critique! Happy that you took it on board. :) You'll see a big difference if you give it a try.
  17. Take Your Dog for a Walk

Maryann, I am sooo sorry. I saw my dog get hit with a car and have never been the same since. I, too, blamed myself for letting her out that day. Just think that Marshal was excited to see a friend and he probably never even knew what happened to him. You'll be in my thoughts, kid. Love.....Jill
  18. Font advice for 1931 car?

God I just checked out the radios on that ad, my grandma had the Highboy and I was always terrified of it because if you snuck and turned the knob the thing made a weird scary humming sound. I'm gonna go mess around with some ideas.
  19. Banner and Taxicab

My thoughts exactly. I never do a light drop shadow on a dark background, I try to do a natural one. But I like the banner idea. Love....Jill
  20. Font advice for 1931 car?
