  1. Does anyone do regular printing as well?

I agree with Rooster, unless it came with a photopolymer set-up, stock type and other extras, some time would need to be spent chasing after all the parts, bloating your budget, then the training. Every once in a while I get the bug and read up on the idea, then I chicken out, I can get a...
  2. Book Review: Inside Sign Design: How to Design Interior and Exterior Signage

That might sound steep, but if I was a sign designer wanting to get more skills, and that knowledge might possibly get me a raise or a higher rate, then it's a drop in the bucket... oh and I got the downloadable version (55 bucks) Since I have over 1000 books, one more is not going to make that...
  3. Book Review: Inside Sign Design: How to Design Interior and Exterior Signage

I don't know about learning the hard way, since I have been employed most of my design career, it was my employers that had to learn the hard way, I got to observe it. If I was really smart, I would be working for someone right now. I don't know about other designers, but I collect other...

  6. Regulations on wraps

Same thing here in California, Some people who take their vehicle home also deal with CC&R's and have to cover or garage their vehicle. One shop I do work for is constantly hassled about their shop van and truck, they might move them around the parking lot during the day. (there is not area in...
  7. Does anyone do regular printing as well?

I specify print. I think the processes you are considering are craft industries. If you do a lot of business cards, posters and print that are more than the shiny 4-color gang printers, then you already have people to market too. It's not totally out of the realm of sign making if you already...
  8. Book Review: Inside Sign Design: How to Design Interior and Exterior Signage

I saw this book being posted on Sign Syndicate, bought the download version, thought I would share it here. Many here are only doing basic sign types, but for those who are looking to grow your business or your career in electrical and interior sign design or want to tighten your design and...
  9. Olympic signage and Dan Antonelli

Dan is a designer who has his pulse on what is going on in design. If Dan did do the signs, he would have to hire me because I would work for free (well, at least he should feed me) he wouldn't be posting here at all, he would be too busy dealing with that monstrous project. I would kill to be...
  10. Looking for some critique.

The only ones making money is the site hosting the contest while design mules do all the work. It's tempting but even good designers can only win so many contest, not enough to make a living, unless you live in a third world country. http://www.no-spec.com/
  11. I need some constructive criticism on my website

Well, there goes that... All you did was ask for constructive criticism with no criteria on what we could comment on. Since website design is content, it's only natural to comment on your work, which is part of the website. If I could tell you how to double your sales in a year would you do it...

  17. Problems working with illustrator!!!!

The example you show is a poor example, of course Illustrator can select those circles without de-selecting anything, you just have to select the circles in the first image in red... where illustrator has a problem is the other example I show, you select the circle the same way, then you hit...
  18. Problems working with illustrator!!!!

I have no reason to use Corel except for one client. His design staff all use it and they want to be able to fold it into their presentation easier that switching around in .pdf. Up to this point, I was only using it for converting too.
  19. Problems working with illustrator!!!!

I use both, but since layer support sucks in Corel, and Corel is not capable of multiple scales on a single page, I use Illustrator, I am sure the lame arguing can go on and on, but it's like arguing about who's pencil is better... just give me a pencil! By the way Doc, there is no stumbling...
  20. Problems working with illustrator!!!!

Which version? Did you read my post on changing your preferences to "OBJECT SELECTION BY PATH ONLY" you may have that off... I would have it on and select object by surrounding it, or by selecting the edge.
