  3. font used on adam 12 towed car

The photo as you have posted appears to be of a film crews "donkey" rig. A car rigged to carry various camera crews and their equipment to get specific viewing angles onto film to add realism to the finished shots. The magnetic sign is just that, was most likely hand lettered during the late...
  4. looking at an old cutter

1leonchen: You are WRONG! That is a early paper cutter. I owned one almost exactly like that for 20 years while running my printing company. The cutter you are showing is known as a "Peerless Gem" Manufactured since 1905, by the Peerless Printing Press Company of Palmyra, NY. The sale of these...
  5. PB in Huntsville AL

I don't have a GS6000. However, after every job is run on my Mimaki JV33, the rip program {Rasterlink Pro3} will tell me EXACTLY how much ink I used per color, & total ink used. I can then figure out what each print cost me to produce. The costs will vary according to how much coverage you have...
  6. Vectorizing a image, Is this "ok"?

Scarface: There are a number of very high quality photos on the internet of the "BUTT UGLY" rice burner you requested photos of. {I found several with only a two minute search} Is the problem more that your customer can't or won't spend the money to have quality artwork created for his...
  7. Illustrator CS4 Pathfinder problem.

I believe your problem is in the way you are approaching this. If I remember correctly, you need to start with all objects UNGROUPED. Then select the items you want to interact with each other select them, then use the "minus front" option.
  8. Honda Element Wrap finally finished

CONGRATULATIONS! The problem I see is that there is to much competition in the background graphic with the main message. It is a major problem when creating any sign layout. What is the MAIN COPY?, secondary copy, and the background. I like the concept, however there is no clearly defined...
  9. Vectorizing a image, Is this "ok"?

If you are going to take a photo, or scan a photo and then personally or have Vector Doctor create a vectorized piece of artwork? I believe you will NOT have any problems. You are creating original artwork using the photo only for reference. No harm, No foul. Just my 2¢
  10. Melted Ink Cartridge PLEASE HELP

I would place an IMMEDIATE call to my ink, printer supplier, and respectfully request that they get their rear ends over to your shop IMMEDIATELY, to decide what they are going to do to correct this. BTW: make it clear you will NOT be paying for a service call. This appears to be a Manufactures...

"be ok to clean those with a cleaning swab direct to the head? " Have you READ YOUR MANUAL? Do you understand what DAILY cleaning is? Has anyone {your equipment sales person} ever instructed you on MAINTENANCE?
  12. misting on new jv5 heads

Who did the replacement? You? or a factory authorized Mimaki Tech? Having the mechanical ability to change the heads without the technical training and ability to make the final adjustments to the heads can lead to a problem like the one you mention. There are several print tests that only...
  13. Solid colours suddenly not giving very good results, any ideas?

It may not seem critical, but if I am reading the "TESTPRINT", you have several, maybe four nozzels in the left part of the cyan head not working. They need to be perfect or it WILL effect the finished product. Perhaps one work around is to double print those jobs that require dark solids. It...

  15. 3000 Coroplast Signs for how much!?

Can anyone involved with THIS DISCUSSION, explain why you are talking about PRICING? ANY PRICING? in an open forum? It is no wonder the public bitches that your prices are "TO HIGH" when you use a public forum to discuss pricing issues. The PREMIUM area is where this type of discussion...
  16. Printer Running SLOW! JV-33

WOW! Thanks for all the feed back. I called my Mimaki tech guy and he said it could be "file" related. The file that started this situation was a PDF file provided by one of my customers. It had a LOT of LAYERS, and was saved as a PDF. Brian suggested that {as someone above pointed out as...

  18. Grumpy Jenkins Font Type

The car you show here is a SCALE MODEL REPLICA Bills' 1969 Camaro that was campaigned during the 1969-1970 S/S, and Pro Stock season. "Grump’s ‘69 Camaro had several incarnations. The original setup was a Super Stock/C racer and used an all-aluminum 427 ZL-1 engine. Pro Stock was about a year...

Sorry for this, BUT! Are you REALLY looking to charge "by the square inch"? Get yourself a copy of the "Sign Writers Price Guide" or something that will give you a REALISTIC idea of what real sign people charge for their work. You, and others like you who DO NOT HAVE A CLUE what your...
