  1. Flexi 10 Coming Soon

Hi Andy, Please do not think I was trashing CorelDRAW. I used to work for them and have used it since version 2 was beta. Further, I was instrumental in bringing CoCut Pro to the US market. But we both know that steps are needed to make CorelDRAW or AI designs vinyl-ready. Strokes cut as...
  2. Flexi 10 Coming Soon

+1 to what Wayne says. Also on vector and outline text, I'd argue that all vector programs do essentially the same thing (nodes, curves and placing text). So it comes down to which one you use and thus can use more easily. But true sign software like Flexi creates with vinyl in mind...
  3. Transparent area doesn't stay transparent when importing to Flexi?

Flatten it, RGB, save as tiff. Always let Photoshop do the bitmap manipulation. It rocks. Then place in Flexi (CorelDRAW, CADlink, whatever) to add vectors, text and cut lines. Always this way, IMO.
  4. Graphtec fc8000 Review?

Sure; we're the world's #1 Graphtec dealer :^) Kidding!!! But we do have some great deals on Graphtec-based cutters and even some refurb and demos that are usually at great prices. So you might want to check those out: 800.699.5512 or sales@signwarehouse.com Best, Jim
  5. email and web page down

Rarely. (very) Never a bounced email, of which I am aware, even using the cheapies like Hostmonster, GoDaddy, etc.
  6. Your website?

Trademark law is pretty-much driven by consumer protection, not business / profits protection. The VW thing is pretty clear, since the parts dealer was in no was infringing VW. But a case could easily be made that consumers could be confused, since one would reasonably think that the vw.com...
  7. Prismjet Extra

I get that. Excellent point. Check with our support folks, just to be safe. But removing and reinserting ink carts should be okay. But better safe than sorry: 800.966.1783
  8. Prismjet Extra

The ink levels are monitored automatically. You shouldn't have to remove them. Call our support folks and they should be able let you know how it's done. 800.966.1783
  9. logo Thoughts

I'd lose the tree. The peachy object is clean and catchy-looking. Too literal is always a bit amateur-looking, IMO. (Apple Computer notwithstanding :^)
  10. Side Layout...

Yeah; what Jill says. Good suggestions. BTW, in re: 555-WORD phone numbers, do others have a problem spelling as I do? I have a Blackberry Curve. No spelling (4 = S, not GHI). So I cannot even dial "BURG."
  11. Copyright blurb

Good point. Sorry; I do Web development, so Filezilla runs near 24/7. Another idea would be to Zip the file with a password that by typing they agree, i.e., "Type 'agree' to open the archive." Just a thought
  12. Copyright blurb

That's good. Great is a link to the image on your sight, with acceptance language ("By following this link you agree ....") That's informed consent, and it adds credibility / value to what you create, IMO.
  13. Your website?

Nice. But you might want to have a color for link text. Link and body text looks identical until you mouseover and it's underlined. In the biz we call it Mysterymeat Navigation. (major no-no; people won't click hidden links)
  14. Your website?

+1 on what Dan's saying, too. I'd add that Website making can have a fun factor, and really take you away from running your company, if you're not careful. And like everything, you'll overdo it. It can be very much like your first wordprocessing program (with 20 fonts!!) or the first time...
  15. Your website?

SEO is "Search Engine Optimization." But these days, SEO/Social Networking is the new buzz phrase. That can start replacing sleep :^) So the easy thing is to get Tweetdeck (free) and automatically put your Twitter tweets on Facebook. (half the work) Thentweet something, daily. Take a...
  16. Your website?

Sweet. The geeks are saying that HTML is dead / dying and won't be Google, etc. crawled. But I think that's bunk. But just in case, maybe add some social network stuff (add this button, minimum) Also every signshop should be on Google Map (Google local). If you are not, do it before...
  17. Your website?

I like everything about it!!! It's old school, but you do neet stuff that's really easy to identify and browse. And the home page communicates in a nanosecond exactly what you are and how to contact you. Superb, even if using oldschool web progamming. IMHO
  18. Your website?

A great Portfolio / Gallery solution is Cooliris.com (free) which populates automatically from Flickr.com (free but paid is better). Click any of sections from here see it work: http://www.reidsigns.com/site/?page_id=10.
  19. Your website?

Install this: www.wordpress.org Buy a theme here: www.elegantthemes.com But first think content. Then find the container to hold it. Don't make your message subordinate to the delivery vehicle. My $0.02, Jim

Go Zenyatta! Older is better :^)
