Hi Surf City, Which cutter did you get? If it's giving you trouble I can put our support folks in-touch. I assume it's under warranty, yes? Thanks, and I'm sorry you're unhappy. Jim
  2. BOTW and popups about Infected computer - Fake AV Software

Maybe I've been getting lucky. (less clever mal-ware) I scan regularly and am, apparently, clean. But good advice. Which is the best cleaner, in your opinion? Double and triple checking is a good idea. Thanks, Jim
  3. gold medal hockey yesterday...

Congrats to all Canadians, many of whom are my very close friends (one intimate). My Yankee pride was briused a bit. But Canada deserves its due, especially since hockey is such a great sport in Canada. Now on to the World Cup: Go Brazil!!!! (Unless the US makes it to the Cup Final :^)
  4. BOTW and popups about Infected computer - Fake AV Software

You can do a system restore to an earlier date; that'll get rid of it. Sometimes these things can also block the system restore feature. If so, restart in Safe Mode and then do a restore. It's a pain but only takes about 5 minutes to fix. Good luck, Jim
  5. Adwords: Money for nothing or works?

Thanks Dr. Signmeup, BTW, even "Banners" is pretty generic. You gotta sell to the need, and not just what it is, i.e.: Banners for parties and special events. Great prices! (Then a landing page that speaks directly to that consumer need, so they'll know they arrived at their exact...
  6. Adwords: Money for nothing or works?

Agreed! That's rub, which is what makes qualifying so important (SignWarehouse does great with AdWords). AdWords is the messenger and not the message. I could put a good ad or a bad one on the back cover of People Magazine, and have completely different results. So my advice is to not go...
  7. Finished the new shop truck wrap!

Very cool!!! And cold ... brrrr. Crazy winter, even here in Texas. It's reminding me of when I lived in Seattle. Back to kudos on the design: high-impact and great readability. I'll bet you get tons of leads. Jim
  8. Thank you Canada.

Dang it, our guys are looking a bit outclassed, which is too bad since Canada is just a suburb of the United States. Kidding!!! I'm always teasing my girlfriend about that (she's Canadian, and knows I'm kidding since we both LOVE Canada. Good peeps, beautiful place -- and hot chicks!!! Uh...
  9. Them durn Israelians.

I want one!!!! OMG, that's cool. But is it German? (...de) How much, I wonder?
  10. Megan Fox

I'm not sure that's Photoshop talent per se, but portrait artist talent ... with a graphics tablet, and a photo to trace for the initial sketch / outline. Switching colors and brushes in Photoshop is as easy as doing it from tubes of pigment and a jar full of brushes. Knowing brush strokes is...
  11. Mutoh 1604 vs Roland SP540 - Video from Fellers

I think that's the perception every multi-line dealer would like us to believe (I've worked for them, too). But we choose the path of least resistance; it's human nature. And sales people will sell you what sells the easiest, with a secondary consideration for what's the most profitable. In my...
  12. Mutoh 1604 vs Roland SP540 - Video from Fellers

That's due to distribution agreements offered by the various manufacturers. Roland limits territory; Mutoh does not. So nationals like Fellers (and us) tend not to focus on Roland since our marketing reaches the entire country. (and beyond) If we spend money creating interest for Roland...
  13. Mutoh 1604 vs Roland SP540 - Video from Fellers

I can't speak for Frank & Co, but we did a comparison video a while back, too. The problem in doing them is that models, and even firmware updates, make the darn things obsolete about the time they're produced and get any traction on youtube. That's pretty much why we haven't done one in a...
  14. Mutoh 1604 vs Roland SP540 - Video from Fellers

There's probably a fine line between Roland, Mimaki and Mutoh, since they're running Epson heads and inks (Epson's saved Hexachrome for themselves, for the uber high-quality color-matching and gamut.) But, IMO, it comes down to this: Roland is great at the specialty stuff (white, metallic...
  15. Website Critique Please!

"You can do so much more to please the eye and the search engines." Hi Astro, I think you're search engine-friendly, but a smidge hard on the eyes. Whew, more text elements above the fold than I can count, with one streaking across the screen. Your logo bar is too big (pushes...
  16. Vinyl Express R39,

Hi Ax, I have some experience, since I found, named and developed the logo/branding for the Vinyl Express R Series. Honestly, it's a cheapy Chinese cutter. Loud (stepper motor) and not terribly feature-rich. But it's the best of the bunch in my opinion -- and I looked at all of them...
  17. Website Critique Please!

One more thought: I think all this can go: "Welcome to Plus Signs! Plus Signs signs offers a wide variety of signage solutions. Please select your signage needs to get more information." You have the big Signs Plus logo, plus menu and graphic devices that show variety. No need to...
  18. Website Critique Please!

Hi Brian, I like it in many ways, but would suggest a few things: Decide on a typeface for headline and body text. Less line-spacing on paragraph text. Pictures! Maybe stuff ghosting/blending into the background on your logo/header. That's nice, clean space, but kinda bordering on vast...
  19. Newbie

I equate the eminent death of vinyl-cutting with that of Hyman Roth in the Godfather Part II: it's been dying of the same heart attack for decades. I remember talking about it more than 10 years ago when I was with Summa; we were thinking maybe 2 or 3 years it would go away, except for some...
  20. Members of other Signs Forum?

Thanks! Yeah; we just launched it, so we haven't quite caught up with Fred :^) But we hope it's useful for our customers since we focus on the challenges they face. Thanks again, Jim / SW Forum Moderator
