  1. Happy Birthday Marlene!

    HBTY Marlene. Jim (fellow Aries)
  2. Little help please

Dang close, but the racecar lettering appears to be a bit heavier. Plus, in a fraction of the time it takes to find, install and modify the font, you could freehand draw it. It's a pretty simple vector outline. My $0.02, Jim
  3. FC7000-160 Cut Path Skewing

It's perfect; you're spot-on. If you're still off, it's a tracking and not ARMS problem. You might have a bad pinch-roller .. or ???? I'd check with our support, if you got it from us ( www.signwarehouse.com/support/ ) They're there until 11 CST tonight. Good luck, Jim
  4. datacolor dtx file??????

It sounds like one of the camera / video formats. They're generally propriatary to the equiment / software, but the onwer of it should be able to output a Tiff. That's my best guess, Jim
  5. Houseboat sign critique

Beer :45? But other than that, I like! Jim
  6. Hey Summa.....

Nice of you say, Rooster. I think Greg Wentz, their support manager, is in Orlando at the ISA Expo. But I think you can send email to support@summa.us, which should reach him tonight when he logs on back at his hotel. That'll earn a gold star for his team member who helped you. Best, Jim
  7. prismjetet xtra62 whats next

Hi Ernie, Perhaps we can help. Here's our support contact info: http://signwarehouse.com/support/ Best Regards, Jim
  8. Design Help

Sorry, I missed that. And it ain't so. I'm sure they're nice, but the target audience is this: Young couple, maybe a kid, each have pretty good jobs after a couple/few years of finishing college. They want NEW (no worries; smells great; fixtures and appliances are brand new; energy...
  9. Design Help

$260K is entry-level in the Western WA housing market. Exec/Luxury is in the high 400s to 600s. Custom is 900s and north. I think "New" and "250s" (affordable) are real hot buttons, IMO. Jim
  10. Design Help

Hi RJ, I think the salient point is not merely NEW HOMES, but... NEW HOMES from the 250s The white strip in the middle should probably be way-finding. Phone or arrows, then logo and Web at the bottom. My family is in the biz, near you (http://westcotthomes.com/) so I have experience...
  11. Ice Cream Parlor Layout Critique

I think it works and looks nice. Athens and Parlor have prro readability due to low contrast. But ICE CREAM pops, and leaves no doubt you can get a cone from these guys. So muting the Athens and Parlor is probably a benefit. Good job, IMO. Jim
  12. What software

You need the FlexiSIGN-PRO level. That has a RIP; the lower levels do not. Best, Jim
  13. Calendard vs cast Vinyl

Technique is king, when applying dry. Cast/Premium is thinner and has a more aggresive adhesive than Calendered/Intermediate. So it's tougher to handle, initially. But if your signs need to last a long time, Cast is the way to go. Calendered will shrink a lot more and start to come off faster...
  14. vinyl question for the experts

Unlaminated, it's gotta be EDGE-printed, IMO. Resin will last 3 - 5 years, unlaminated. Inkjet, maybe 3 years at most, and it's not as abrasion-resistant as thermal resin printing. Any cast vinyl (less shrinkage, so way less dirty edges over time) should work. IMO, Jim
  15. Help on a HUGE full color tribal job ATTN. Wholesalers

I have, but it's a bit tricky on the contour-cut, with panel overlaps. So unless it's a real intricate design, throwing it on the work table and hand-trimming is fast and easy ... just not too many cups of strong coffee before hand :^) Hand-trimming. I think that's how I'd go with it, IMO. Jim
  16. Anyone change a cutter Main Board?

Ditto. If you need help with this, please call or email our support department: http://signwarehouse.com/support/ Good luck, Jim
  17. Help on a HUGE full color tribal job ATTN. Wholesalers

At that width, hand-trimming is probably the best solution. If it needs to be seamless (whew! hard to handle, or even lift), folks with billboard printers can help. But at that size, panel lines are invisible at intended viewing distance (the distance at which you can acxtually see the...
  18. vinyl question for the experts

More than likely, 2 mil cast, for conformability and durability. 3M, Oracal, or whatever. Most will probably work. And if lamination is not desired, at 4' x 12", this sounds like a perfect application for Gerber EDGE printing. Resins will outlast inkjet, unlaminated. My $0.02, Jim
  19. Question on Sandblast Resist

It could be a blade setting issue. Perhaps you're switching to a thick material blade and not adusting the offset for that blade. Blade-wear can also be an issue, which changes in offset as it wears. Speed an pressure adjustments might help, too, assuming the uncut portion is quite minimal...
  20. Vinyl Express Software for 64-bit

Indeed, version 8.5 is needed. If you don't have it, you can upgrade by calling 800.699.5514. The upgrade price depends of which level / version of Vinyl Express LXi you have currently. Best, Jim
