  4. Thinkung of buying a Corel Product, but not sure which...

Hi Ram man, The complete Corel Graphics Suite (Draw, Paint, etc.) is the way to go. Anything X3 or above is fine ... buy an earlier version to save some bux, be more stable and work better on XP, Vista ... albeit your LXi 8 works on Win7, so no prob if you're on the newest Win platform...
  5. How to create a multipage .pdf from .jpgs?

Or size them in CorelDRAW, add page / template-like surround and any captions, on as many pages as you need and then Publish to PDF. MS Word can do the same, as well.

  8. Prices on website?

Tell that to Dollar General, Family Dollar or the Walton family (save money, live better). All are perfectly aligned to where the market has been going, and where it is right now. What gets customers in the door is one thing; what they walk out with is entirely different. Your Web site is...
  9. Prices on website?

It's all commodities! :^) Geico or Coca-Cola, it's got to do something for me that supersedes the product. Take Coke, for example. If people only bought the best product, Pepsi would outsell them by 1000:1. Pepsi tastes better. They knew that before embarking on the "Take The Pepsi...
  10. Prices on website?

"True Jim, to a degree - but that assumption is based on the premise that you can get the same exact thing at two different places." True that; albeit, I think I can get the "same thing" just about everywhere. And I'm not talking about the sign, which is incidental. I'm talking about...
  11. Prices on website?

That's a great point, Dan, which I hadn't considered ... and indeed, it weeds out the tire-kickers, albeit, you're a big sign biz celeb / sign guy, and can afford to be selective. :^) For most shops, I'd think they want everything with a checkbook, especially with their stock portfolios rising...
  12. Prices on website?

I think the best facility for publishing pricing on custom work is a "starts at" device. Dan's getting great interest, but if the conversion rate is low, that's a lot time responding to folks who aren't buying. So the site should do more than attract; it needs to qualify as well. There's no...
  13. Prices on website?

Hi Spencer, I'm not a sign-guy, per se. But when I came to this industry 15 or so years ago, I worked for AirMark (later became Summa). And every supplier in the industry had "call for best price." They lived in fear that they'd make it too easy for competitors to see our price and then...

  15. One of my customers threatened a lawsuit too!

A lawyer should know that threatening a lawsuit is blackmail, and against the law. They're entitle to demand satisfaction, and of course file a lawsuit. But threatening to file a lawsuit is a crime. File a criminal complaint. They'll likely ask that you withdraw the complaint in lieu of...
  16. is there a bitmap doctor in the house?

I can take a cut at it if you run into a snag. signwarehouse@mail.com But if you charge the client, you gotta buy a roll of premask from us :^) Kidding; I'd be happy to help. Best, Jim
  17. is there a bitmap doctor in the house?

Maybe; if the customer accepts it'll be fine at distance even though it's pixelated up close. And there are scaling solutions that help, albeit it'll be kind of fuzzy. If it were me, since the outlines are pretty simple. I'd import the image into CorelDRAW and draw the outlines over it...
  18. is there a bitmap doctor in the house?

Recreate it in Photoshop at 150dpi or better; 5400 pixels wide ... and if you have to scale the image more than 20% to get there, it'll be pretty rough at output size. The good news is that it's a prety easy graphic to recreate. Some layer effects and a gradient fill is all you need. My...
  19. Workflow with printer and Plotter

SummaCut R or Graphtec CE with ARMS. If you're going heavy-duty on contour-cutting, maybe a Summa S Class (way expensive) or a Graphtec FC8000 / Vinyl Express Q Series. Contour cutting is a real important aspect of the workflow. If it's off, even a tiny amount, you might reject some or all...
  20. Little help please

I'm seeing the original as being a bit fatter; the inside of the 5, etc. A&SM condensed and skewed has more white area in the interior, it seems to me. Freehand is often much better and faster, IMO. But just my opinion. Best, Jim
