  1. Mutoh Valuejet 1604 with CorelDraw

CorelDRAW is a terrific design platform (I prefer Photoshop for bitmap editing and then place them in CorelDRAW if I add vector text, etc.) Then the RIP for the ValueJet is Wasatch, hands down. The print quality is second to none. My $0.02, Jim
  2. cutter still not closing cuts 100%

Hmm. Sounds like some blade-up/down issue may be the problem. The curly element might be part of the enhanced over-cut routine (tangential emulation). Maybe a firmware download (and replace) might fix it. Or try turning off tangential emulation (or on, if it's off). Other than that, I'm...

  4. Is there color without light?

If you paint your bedroom blue, what color are the walls when you turn out the lights? They're still blue walls; the light-reflecting properties do not change. The light can change. But the walls are the constant. Jimbo :rock-n-roll:
  5. Is there color without light?

Agreed. With experience you get sense of what your print will be based what you see on the monitor. But it takes time, like knowing what's the best setting on your toaster, for white, whole wheat and English muffins. :^) Best, Jim
  6. Is there color without light?

Same color; just no light to reflect it. Same with a tree falling in the forest. It makes sound waves regardless of whether they reach a human ear drum. Jim
  7. Is there color without light?

Hi SJM, Sorry, I meant to say "Better is an opinion." (option was a typo) Also, while there's a relationship between CMY annd RGB, they're not interchageable. RGB has a much broader gamut, and emitted light (monitor) is different than reflected (printed). With LCD montors it's even worse...
  8. Is there color without light?

They're unrelated; no light, no color, since color is merely light reflected (not absorbed) off an object. The colors looking better on a monitor is subjective, and also different than reflected light. So monitors and printed materials are going to look different no matter what. "Better"...
  9. Stamps.com must die!

When I have a problems with larger companies, I whine at Get Satisfaction. And I usually get great response afterward. Here's the page for Stamps.com: http://www.getsatisfaction.com/wwwstampscom Jim
  10. need some input PLEASE

Hi Don, Do you have a problem you're resolving or are you just trying to stay current, because? XP has years of life left in it; plus, in a production environment, never change a working system. Training, equipment/software and production slow-downs during the change-over is why behemoth...
  11. Cutting order???

Yep; that helps. It sorts vectors for the most effecient cutting-head movement. This speeds cutting and reduces equipment-wear. CorelDRAW sorts vectors in the order they're created. While designing, that's handy; you can tab through the objects to select them individually. But it's a pain...

  14. DC4sx Printing on Polycarbonate?

Hi Chani, You might want to check with Summa on that. I seem to recall that the DC1 and DC2 would, but that it burned through heads much faster. But I think the DC3/4 printer-cutter didn't print on it as well. Maybe that's changed. But you should check in case you might damage your print...
  15. Printer of the future

Wow! Very cool. But $3 per page is spendy paper, especially if you have to mail a letter or invoice.
  16. Sign Warehouse

I think they're revamping it, last I heard. You can email them at info@yellotools.com. Or maybe give us shot at redeeming ourselves :^) We have SpeedClips, by Yellotools ... and a working Web site (kidding; I'm sure they'll have it up soon.) All my best, Jim
  17. Sign Warehouse

No; Yellotools is still very much in business. I just like SignWarehouse more. We even sell a Yellotools product: SpeedClips ( http://www.signwarehouse.com/forums/showthread.php?11-NEW!-SpeedClip-Media-Roll-Fasteners ) But I'm an equipment guy, mostly, having been for over 15 years. It's a...
