  1. designing new business cards

If you want help, some of us really do like to contribute. I was thinking the same thing as Professor, I think in order for you to learn, maybe you can show us what you think is good design or style that will fit your card. Some may shoot you down, just wade through that crap and find some...

  5. Halo Effect

You can do it in Illustrator... EFFECTS>STYLIZE>OUTER GLOW A window pops up, click PREVIEW, pick a color, slide the transparency and size... Glows can occasionally get a little buggy when you print though (can sometimes leave a light colored box around glow) so do a test print before you do...
  6. Illustrator and CadTools

Another thing is if you duplicate instead of copy and paste some images, it may do that. When I doing multiple page and scale drafting and I need to use the same image to modify, I will copy and paste with "paste remembers layers" on... it may be some wierd thing like that too.
  7. Illustrator and CadTools

Where the pic? Do you have multiple layers and scales? Did you change the scale in the middle of drawing or add another layer/scale? If you add or change scales after you start pulling your dimensions, it tends to freak out a little. I have a template with all the layers/scale pre-made so I...

    Looks like "Rapier" super stretched....
  9. Where did Sarge go?

I was thinking the same thing... images of ATF agents surrounding a hidden fortress, a guest spot on EXTREME MAKEOVER, a police chase involving a beat-up, rusty, Datsun B210 with Cadillac hubcaps, on for weeks as the top Jeopardy champion, Jonas Brothers groupie, standing outside the gates of...
  10. Pantone matching for digital printing

  11. Pantone matching for digital printing

I have to chime in that to some degree it's not going to be relevant to sign shops as most sign shops produce what they design, will send out files to printers who do not do any color correcting other than the software management. Shops hold on to files to other vendors, and attempt to keep as...

  15. Pantone matching for digital printing

So you think we should throw away all our color REFERENCES and destroy the big color machine that is Pantone with the obsessive designer minions?... JUST PRESS PRINT! (or spray, or press, or squeegie) viva la revolucion'
  16. Pantone matching for digital printing

(reworded as Gino's wisdom has enlightened me on the use of properly inserted words) But if monitors all display differently and all printers print differently then what kind of reference is that?
  17. Pantone matching for digital printing

But if monitors all display differently and all printers print differently then what kind of standard is that? Really tying trademark attorneys to a color standard is reaching quite a bit (The color conspiracy?). A consistent standard is one that a designer in Wyoming has in his hand is the same...
  18. Pantone matching for digital printing

This statement is a load of crap... All the finish products of print (especially gang printing), monitors/web, digital print, PMS Paint match, letterpress and screen printing all have inconsistencies. Pantone is just as good as any "standard" to start with to keep a consistency of color...
