If you put it in a suitcase and does not have anything of concern, channel letters probably look like a TV or some electronics through the scanner. Customs will open up the suitcase if they feel a concern. I am sure it was not carry on. Every country has different rules on what comes in.
I have a 1204 and work in rgb and save as a .pdf. My black which prints black is set at r 0 g 0 b 0. The RIP prints it in CMYK.
You need to look at your nozzle check to see if your black ink is firing. Might need a new maintenance station or new dampers.
Or some 10' schedule 40 3" PVC pipe for $20 and some yellow paint. The recycling metal place is a good place to pick up steel pipe. If going in concrete, rent a core drill at Home Depot.
How much of your business income was the car dealership. With them buying your competition it seems everything is the same except your car dealership account is gone. Like others said about being friendly to your new competition would be a good idea and they probably will see what a pain it is...
That round corner sign had a pan face in it if I remember correctly. If your replacing with flat piece you might have to go with thicker material because 1/16" might just "flop" out of there. The pan gave it rigidity. Hopefully the track can fit a thicker piece of material.
