  1. Roll to Roll Label printer/cutter

I actually just purchased the Afinia L801 and Matrix remover/slitter. I couldn't justify the cost for the finisher for the stuff I'm doing which doesn't really need laminate. I could use the custom cut option but again the price is from $14k-$20k for entry level finisher. I haven't had much...
  2. Marking, scratching on printed vinyl.

Don't really want to laminate 6mil vinyl for labels cause that will increase their cost. Higher heat possibly? I've bumped the heat up a bit but still seemed to mark pretty easily.
  3. Work burnout

Sounds exactly what position I'm in. I don't do much design at all and what I can I sub out to local designers. I try and focus on production as well as I'm just one guy. I can turn most of my jobs around in a 2-3 days. I also do a bunch of deliveries which sucks up some time but it's nice to...
  4. Marking, scratching on printed vinyl.

On thicker vinyl, 6mil, after it's printed and had a chance to off gas, I notice that it easily marks and with some pressure it will scratch, but it marks very easily. I don't seem to have this happen on thinner vinyl, 3mil. What can I do to prevent this?
  5. Work burnout

Everyday! Although I'm in a private residence and don't have customers here so just have to deal with social media and calls.
  6. Work burnout

Yeah that's how I treat Saturdays, I don't talk to clients on the weekend if I can help it. I've got a "special case" customer that gets stuff done when he sends it but I've worked that out with him and my needs for time and he always tips me extra for delivery.
  7. Work burnout

Thanks for all the great feedback! Looks like I'll have to try pushing back delivery dates and raising prices slightly. A lot of my customers don't plan for it and get stuff on a semi-weekly basis which leaves me with little time to squeeze them in if I'm already full. I'd say my price could go...
  8. Epson Ink Shortage

Yeah same boat here for these inks. Black was the one that was out recently but now I'm seeing the other colors are out now on backorder. I'm wondering if this is due to a chip shortage like in other industries.
  9. Work burnout

I'm going on my second year in the vinyl printing business with things only getting busier. Which is great, however I'm finding myself getting completely burnt out mentally and somewhat physically. I find I can't say no to a job, I've been working 7 days a week 10-11hr days average for the last...
  10. Need Help Summa S2T160 not reckognizing regmarks on reflective material

I've run into the many times. Calibration of media is first, I haven't found any it won't calibrate yet. However it might still have a hard time reading and what I did was to have small strips I printed on clear vinyl with yellow only. These should be cut just wide enough to fit over the OPOS...
  11. GS3 and GS3 MCS Ink Difference

  12. Semi-Rigid Vinyl options

I do a lot of short run custom cut labels on vinyl and I laminate most because I find 3mil vinyl is just very flimsy and difficult to deal with at times for labeling. Are there any other semi-rigid vinyls in a thinner thickness other than the 6mil General Formulations, Briteline and Oracal...
  13. Reflective Sticker Vinyl 30"

I've had a lot of success with Griff Fantasy Film Silver Oil Slick, however it's been very hard to find since covid.
  14. Which RIP software do you use ?

    Onyx Thrive 19
  15. Efficiency and equipment upgrades

I've just got a D140, the basics as it was my first cutter. I can get it to do full cuts it's just not ideal. If I could afford a flatbed I certainly would be looking at them.
  16. Efficiency and equipment upgrades

My business has steadily increased over the last year and I'm finding it a little harder to keep up at times when I've got a full schedule. I do a lot of die cut stickers (full cuts through the backer) on my summa (two-pass process) I also do a lot of smaller kiss cut sheets of stickers and...
  17. Labels for Packaging

I do a lot of short to medium run stuff like this. I try and keep my vinyl orders 10k and under, average is 1k-2k usually. Everything I do is for manual application so I generally do sheets of multiple up, around 8.5"x 11". I don't have a lot of automation on my end which would help in...
  18. Suggestions Labels and material assistance

I do a lot of short-run labels and recently I've been having a lot of labels with a perforation in them, to act as a safety seal on a product. However unlaminated I find it's just a bit too thin for people and I also feel like 3.4mil is a bit thin for labels on vinyl. I've used 6mil General...
  19. Summa D140 - Irregular Cutting

Maybe if the start point was different possibly? Not really sure what determines the start points in the cut path. Yeah I've got no issues with complex shapes. Maybe I'll try doing 45 deg as I've got to reprint some of them. I think I know what you mean...in that last part...just having an...
  20. Summa D140 - Irregular Cutting

I'm not doing Flexcuts but it it pushing to cut that side. Guessing that is the issue? that it's pushing the cut instead of pulling it.
