When wraps first appeared I had a lot of commercial customers that lost interest when I told them the price plus the (lack of) longevity. A guy that was used to vinyl lettering lasting the life of his truck wasn't interested in spending way more for something that may have to be replaced in a...
personally I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of small sales like that, but I can see where it could work. There's often room to run extra small decals on many jobs. If you have the design they could be printed for the cost of the ink alone. I'll sometimes run small versions of the clients...
I use Gerber Omega, 5.0 I think. I learned computer sign making with Gerber and have stuck with it. Some of the features on Gerber are more sign orientated. I also have Corel for printing.
The one issue you may have is the ability to use the old version on a new computer. You can get upgrades...

Very nice sign. Are the birds' legs metal? As Gino says the best way to refinish is the completely strip the old paint. I would take it down and do it in the shop. We did something similar with a carved colonial "Bellringer". After stripping we hit all suspect areas with a marine wood rot...
Only if the color isn't available in acrylic. We did a job a while ago that had cut out acrylic letters in a bunch of different pastel colors. We painted them with custom rattle cans from this place. Held up really well...

We try not to do flat signs for a permanent business sign. I would do 3mm ACM on a 1"x1" aluminum tube frame with a raised aluminum molding. Not a lot more work but looks way more substantial.
Then it can be installed with brackets.
Some codes do require signs be maintained. But like abandoned properties enforcement is hard because there usually isnt anything in the code that gives it teeth. But if the code has provisions for fines it is a possibility. The other issue for the property owner, besides the cost, is once the...
Have you cut a lot of acrylic? Sometimes it takes the right blade and a soft touch. Drilling holes is a common technique, nit sure if it really works but it can't hurt. We have resin bond so thats what I would bond the crack with. Since it's hidden by the retainer if I was really concerned I...
