  1. Stick to flat wrap?

i've only had issues with vinyl sticking to textured/carbonfiber vinyl. ...easily remedied by using a hightack like arlon8000 or 3m 680Reflective
  2. Knifed Flex face (NOT TOO BIG)Can it be repaired

+1 patch/weld it from the backside as suggested above. clients would rather deal with a dark spot at night, as it is cheaper/faster than a complete replacement. at least you have a clean-cut line to fix. my last patch, was a 6ft burn hole from a welder's spark that fell 30ft. while setting a...
  3. Completely New to Signs

go to conventions/sign expos. walk around town with another salesman and discuss signage in your area. ...and forward me all of your bids for review. :)
  4. Reinstalled Onyx 6.0 color is off

you need to re-setup your ink limits. make sure your nozzles are firing at 100% before attempting to do any color calibrations/profiling.
  5. Double sided magnets?

also noted, that, if you only need 1", or so, sized magnets then you can just pickup a bunch of ceramic magnets from Master Magnetics at your local Home Depot. they're strong enough to hold up with vinyl applied to either-side. Neodynium is nice, but more expensive. pics of a perforated steel...
  6. Double sided magnets?

most of the magnetic materials aren't strong enough to hold itself up with the layer of vinyl material between steel/magnet. Its basically a spacer, no matter how thin, that inhibits the strength of the magnet. However, if your panel is a piece of steel then your magnet will attract no...

  10. install price for semi

$2 psf is barely profitable, at best, $1 psf is definitely laughable.... kudos for passing-up on that crap. more nickels&dimes for your competition to lose-sleep over.
  11. 3M IJ180Cv3 sun exposure---looks burned

I've only seen "scorching" issues like this on vertical surfaces like hoods/rooftops of cars. only thing i can think of, aside from western sunlight exposure in Texas, is a possibility that there are stainless steel panels surrounding the area of the graphic installation: mirroring sunlight and...
  12. Any Experiences with C001 Banding Tool?- Square Posts?

we have that same banding tool. works great! square-post installs are actually easier than round ones, imho. its just like a zip-tie, tension grips any shape.
  13. JV3 Error 23 help!

yeah, could be the card. same issue here, but when away after replacement. The I/O board was actually the only electrical component on that printer I've ever had to replace aside from ribbon cables.
  14. Old "Dead" Printer - What to do?

heck of an effort to refurbish that machine, and hardly worth it for a 30". i have a 54" printer that's worth much more and haven't sold it in nearly 4 years, so I'm parting it out. you can search for the parts on the machine worth salvaging & parting-out on ebay (boards, power supply, motors...
  15. 3640-G profiles

+1 your printer needs maintenance, not profiling. you can allow a tolerance of 5-10% nozzle dropout, but once you start exceeding it.... you'll notice a drastic change in print color/quality. no profile can tell your printer to start firing clogged nozzles.
  16. Presidential debate...let's hear your thoughts

it just amazes me that this is the best we've got. scandals, racism, bigotry... who needs policy anways? that crap doesn't make headlines. you'd think with social media being basically a FREE platform for campaigning, that a more appealing option could take the lead over what garbage is being...
  17. CNC Router Purchase Recommendation

our multicam 3000 series has been a workhorse for the past 15yrs. I'm seeing people selling theirs used for under 30k and i've been tempted to pickup another one. downside, however, is that multicam consolidated their operations to Texas with only a few branches nationwide.... so service...

  19. Sign Auctions blow my mind

my boss is still giddy from scoring 40-rolls of .040 x 5" channel letter coil at 10cents on the dollar, after one of our competitors went belly-up a couple years ago. Got a few other toys as well, but hot damn that was a sweet deal.
