  1. Constant head strikes WTH!

+1. always hated printing on magnetic material for this reason, if not for same issue during lamination.
  2. Printing yellow on reflective

are you trying to make a field of the PMS130 reflective? try printing some YM on yellow or lemonyellow reflective for best results. otherwise your best bet is to get the Gerber/3M 280i white, which has the whitest white point of all the reflective vinyls, and print as close as you can manage.
  3. Mimaki JV 3 160 print skewed

encoder sensor might have a lint-ball inside of it. its the U-shaped clip mounted on the back of the carriage, towards the right-side, that scans the encoder strip as it travels left/right.
  4. Vinyl Wrapping - Can it be Patented??

there's also a company that owns the utility patent of applying graphics to the individual vertical faces of stairwell/escalators to create a singular image/graphic when viewed at a distance.... seriously? isn't that called tiling?
  5. Best illuminated sign face vinyl for no bubbles

wet apply for sure, big fan of rapidtac for aggressive bonds & homebrew soap&water for large-field vinyl graphics I know I'll be removing in a few years.
  6. Name my boat internet site - prices way too low

hope not to offend, but when I hear Mullet.... i think, PAAAAAARTY! keep rockin', OPaint :)
  7. Tattoo Copyright?

and further down the rabbit-hole of the link above, Universal Studios actually owns the rights to a green frankenstein face with a flat-forehead... yet the tattoo artist is allowed to sue because his derivative-work includes a monocle? Much like logo design...tattoo artist was contracted to do...
  8. Tattoo Copyright?

good lord, just imagine the precedent that would set.... every type foundry will want to claim rights to elements of every celebrity's tattoo'd surface that finds its way in the national spotlight (ads, events, news, whatever). I mean, it's THEIR typeface right? ....and now some celebrity...
  9. Why you should not reuse old material.

devil's advocate here, but if I were paid to remove the "for lease" sign... I would have removed the tape too :) ....or if I were paid to put those new graphics up, I would have also removed the tape. just like when I install a post&panel. one could argue that a sign guy isn't a landscaper...
  10. Who makes these and where do I find them???

I could make you one in the time it takes to get to his reply :) cheer-up guys! its FRIDAY! only one more day til my one day weekend starts!
  11. Rigid Ceiling Mount Needed for Exterior Sign

woof. overhead signage. at first glance, I wouldn't trust anything. mount directly to ceiling and it crashes-down, you're to blame. some kid jumps up and smacks it, and it crashes-down, you're still to blame. I see can lights, however. Can you get access above the ceiling? I would be...
  12. Problems with single sided laminating: what am I missing?

loaded question, can't tell you what you're missing without knowing what your current process is still, lamination is not rocket science. 1) setup your web, with proper tension 2) load printed material square & center 3) set roller pressure, I prefer on the lighter-side. 4) rock&roll
  13. Drop Position Correction Confusion

i believe they were .1 increments, i think its in the manual, and you just enter the correct value once... not add to existing/reprint/repeat. extreme values will cause your printer to mimic overspray.
  14. hydro dipping

hydrographics uses polyvinyl alcohol to transfer the ink layer, same stuff as listerine strips. +1 to outsourcing your prints to someone else that already has the means. I have only dabbled in a few handguns, stock camo patterns ordered online. having a 3D printer is actually pretty handy...
  15. Installation Help!! - Large Acrylic Signs !

large-sized acrylics always pose a shatter-risk, especially exterior. buuuuut 1/2" thick, I don't see what it should be an issue. gonna be heavier than a mf'r tho'. a stand-off in each corner won't cut it.
  16. Refurbished DX4 Heads for sale

yeah, the heads are pricey but they will last you over half a decade if properly maintained. they are also your moneymaker. if you can't afford printheads to get your machine up to snuff, then put your worst printhead on the yellow channel, your best printhead on the black channel, and print...
  17. Beer pull handle prototype.

awesome! hope you get to make 100 of em'
  18. How would you guys make this sign and how much would you charge for it?

its just a second-surface print on clear acrylic. (acrylic>clear print>white trans print) standoff hardware, and led's mounted to the wall in a pan that is also laced with LEDs around the perimeter (or you can just count on some of the light shining through the back of the acrylic just...
  19. JV3 160sp (So many problems)

you have alignment issues. most likely as result of black printhead being replaced recently. you're most likely getting ghosting around the black because your bidirectional print alignment is off. try printing in uni-directional to confirm. alignment procedures start with aligning the black...
  20. JV3 160sp (So many problems)

+1 pics or it never happened. constantly getting bubbles in the ink lines may be result of a broken manifold, which is likely result of haste while replacing/fiddling with the dampers.
