yeah I do that too. this mess came during the process of scanning the media and all the forward-back motions involved.

thanks guys! yeah, this is beyond simply pulling vinyl out of the machine anymore... it is applied & torn/webbed all over the media feed channel/intake-tray and most likely applied over the top of whatever sensor that detects media as you feed it in. taking it apart wouldn't be the worth thing...

awesome, managed to get most of it out but there's definitely a chunk still stuck to the backside of the loading-side and my fingers are too fat to get in and peel it out. ...which is why I'm still getting errors from the machine telling me that the media is loaded incorrectly... without any...

dig out the ground around the base of the posts, and cut them down as low as you can afford to. take back to shop & work on them there, and develop a plan to re-secure the posts to their existing bases OR attach leg extensions and re-bury the sign 1-2" lower than original to hide your cut-lines.

+1 glue an .090-.125 alum backer to the panel to resist curling I use PB FastSet from Suncoast Industries, but Lord's or GorillaGlue would suffice. you can also throw some screws through the aluminum into the HDU from the backside, as it looks like you have a nice thick perimeter to bite-into...

tunneling/buckling issues have always been fixed on my 26500 by simply pre-feeding an extra foot or so... so that I may apply tension to the media as it comes out of the printer. once it is far-enough to be taped to your take-up, the weight of the media itself has always been enough to keep it...

+1 potentially bad media. if it is really old, it would definitely be this. buckling/tunneling of media during print will also cause variation of how the ink is laid-down.

your grubby fingers loading the material has contaminated the surface. ink doesn't stick to oil/grease. the speckles are most likely dirt/debris, that have fallen-off the material after printing, leaving the bare white spot in its place.

just use your noodle. not that difficult... one-offs: -reverse-print on clear, regular print on white (must have white adhesive-side!). -laminate the white print -then use a light table or a sunny window to align white over clear, tape-hinge in place, then use laminator or a squeegee to apply...

if you're hellbent on assuming that calendared 3M vinyl, and economy house-brand calendared overlaminate is good enough for your prodouct.... maybe try dialing-down the tension on your laminate feed? if you stretch calendared vinyl even the slightest bit during lamination, it WILL shrink within...
