Got the Mac Pro back from Apple Store yesterday. They did a fresh install of 10.7 (Lion) on the SSD. I am in the process of re-installing all software. While at the store on Friday, we were able to salvage the desktop data from the corrupt HDD.
Now that I have it back running the main OS on...
Actually Eric, the drive that the SSD is replacing is smaller. The original HDD was 320GB, and I was using about 210GB of space on it. The new SSD is 480GB, so I have plenty of room.
After the incident today (see previous post), I have decided that I'm purchasing a SECOND 480GB SSD and I'm...
UPDATE....
Not going as well as planned. Nothing to do with the SSD, and THIS IS NOT A MAC ISSUE... so please for the love of all things good and pure, please don't turn this thread into a PC vs. Mac thing, okay!
The HDD I was attempting to clone is the original HDD that came with...
That's what I've been hearing! I'm sure once I witness the difference, I will be switching my production PC over to one as well. I will also take comfort in knowing that SSD's are a lot less prone to failure than HDD's (obviously!!). In the last 20 years, I've had around 6 HDD failures in the...
I'm in the middle of transferring my "Macintosh HD" HDD contents over to a new SSD I just purchased. The HDD is 380GB and I purchased a 420GB SSD. I'm using Carbon Copy Cloner to do the transfer and according to the guys in Cupertino that I was speaking with yesterday, I will be quite pleasantly...
As Bob said, make sure the protective film is removed. Your masking (app tape) could be too high tack also. 651 will stick to aluminium if done properly!
Oh, and welcome from Calgary, Alberta!
No kidding. That's twice this year they've closed down streets in downtown Calgary because of something blowing loose on a skyscraper sign! Me thinks heads are gonna roll!
Wind in Calgary has been causing havoc the last couple months. Here's a news story showing a sign on a sky scraper losing it's flashing 42 stories above busy streets. Incredible! Who installs these things??!!

Nope! (at least I couldn't, and that doesn't mean much!!). When I run into these issues, I simply go ahead and buy the latest version. Why not?!!!
Done and on their way!
Yep, it needed X5 to open. I had X4 installed, and I had the disk for X5, but I just hadn't needed to install it (until now). Great excuse for me to do the upgrade anyhow. :thumb:
Who knows who Paul Rand was?
Came across this video this morning. Found it very interesting. Those of you who are into design should appreciate it! :thumb: Well worth a watch.
I really love it when he says; "Complexity doesn't solve a complex problem..." when he's talking about "designers" and...
Welcome to the growing world of "cheap", or "inexpensive" business cards!! Believe me, I know it. We have "lost" customers because they ask us to quote business cards, then proceed to tell us; "I can get them for half your price at Vista Print (or some other on-line source)". I tell them good...
