  1. Sub shop layout

I like it, but I think it has too much going on. I would lose the little blue torpedoes down at the bottom, as they detract from the sandwich/subs. Where you have ONLY FRESH INGREDIENTS I would put a torpedo each facing out and have the words reverse cut, then lose the red torpedoes up top. I...
  2. 1940's font

The Fontry has some Alf Becker alphabets from the late 1930s. They were published monthly in Signs of the Times, and I'm sure people were still using them by the 1940s. If you do a search for Alf Becker on MyFonts you can come up with a nice variety from various font suppliers. Love....Jill
  3. SignManiac...

Great topic, Marlene. Not only does SignManiac take the time to visually show someone (often the most effective way in my opinion) how to improve something, he also gives great advice about charging what it is worth. If we all listened to his sage words, we would all make more money. And he...
  4. Your thoughts on New business card

SignManiac cleaned it up, and Rick stole the show. His has charm, a sturdiness, and a whole lot of class. When I do a bizcard I put all the chit-chat on the back, I try to make the name and what they do stand out on the front. Rick's makes me want to call that guy to come fix my drywall upstairs.
  5. Your thoughts on New business card

Listen to the advice you've been given. Look at SignManiac's example. Compare it to yours. Which reads better? All those phone numbers just add more clutter. And I don't think it's good to use a pic of something he didn't do. Love....Jill
  6. AVERY Vinyl FAILURE

Haven't used Avery since I had to re-do a SignGold window (their black vinyl failed under the SignGold) and I was compensated $14. They suck. Was accidentally shipped some reflective striping which failed after 1 week, at least two years after the big fiasco. The only material with which I...
  7. Gold Reviews?

I've never sealed either. (do I need a spankin?)
  8. Flexible Trim Cap

There's a shinier thinner type of trim, I get it from Pioneer. It's more flexible but I think it might only be for ½" material. I haven't ordered it in a coon's age, I wanna say it's called something like jewelite. Love....Jill
  9. Gold Reviews?

I use SignGold 99% of the time. But just recently I did try the Oracal Ultraleaf. Other than a weird rainbow-y looking sheen, it looked pretty nice and was a lot easier to work with than SignGold. I have a ton of it left. I've used it on windows, a pickup truck, and Alumalite with good...
  10. Fitches anyone?

I get my fitches from N Glantz. Quill, Hair, and Ferrule sells them too. Love....Jill
  11. Has anyone been paid to curse on a handmade sign?

No I have never been paid, but I have painted plenty of naughty panels for free at Letterhead meets for my friends. Love....Jill
  12. Trailer Layout

I'm sure it's miles ahead of what he had. Reminds me of Friday, got an inquiry from a guy who sent me over a 4MB Word file saved as PDFs of his sh!tty sh!tty ideas. I told him I could work with it to improve it, and he had the balls to ask if I could give him a free sample. He likes Arial...
  13. any idea

    Possibly Dominican Love....Jill
  14. Anyone Know About Rollsroller Flatbed Laminator

Hey I don't do prints or laminations or anything like that, but I saw this thing in action at Sign UK last year. It was HUGE! And really impressive. Either the techs really knew what they were doing or the machine is really easy to use, because it looked to be effortless. Plus it could double...
  15. Is the Easel dead?

Not here. My son got me a really nice one over the summer at a yard sale, my old one was on its last leg. I use both flat tables and my easel. And my lap sometimes. Love.....Jill
  16. Scanning Around With Gene: When Letraset Was King

Somewhere I still have a few sheets of Letraset from when I was in art school. I remember using pieces of letters to make the letters I'd run out of. Thought I was such hot sh!t. I still have my Letraset catalogs, I used them daily when I did everything by hand. Love....Jill
  17. Hello from the mid-Atlantics

Welcome from just north of Pittsburgh. Man I feel sorry for any tech I ever call. I'm an idiot. But folks like you are a real blessing. Love....Jill
  18. What do you wear to work?

Is that like collard greens? :) Hey today I dressed up and sold a logo job I didn't even mean to. Must have been the knee-highs.
  19. a big one

I'd pass on this one. Your reputation is on the line here. That coro will degrade after one year. Don't walk away, run! It's not worth it.
  20. a big one

I'd suggest not using coro, not even giving them that option. You might try pricing polymetal if you are going the Omegabond route (both are fine) Love....Jill
