  1. Omega doesn't seem to handle exporting .eps files easily.

Yep. Obviously a far more complicated file, but essentially the same thing. Funny thing, the work station next to me can do it no problem. Also loaded with Omega 2.6. Is it in the Export Settings dialog box?
  2. Omega doesn't seem to handle exporting .eps files easily.

Or I'm doing something wrong. Here's the scenario. Import raster file into composer. (say it's some lettering with some special effects applied to it in Photoshop) In composer I have the actual "draw" file used to create that same lettering so I use that as a closed path or cutting path...
  3. Gerber Omega question.

Thanks Tony, I've been unable to implement or try those suggestions. Tomorrow at work I'll do so. Appreciate the help.
  4. Wrong cuts wasting tons of money!!

APB, I don't think anyone's mentioned running "environmental match". It's in the menu setting on the machine itself. Works like this: If it's cold or damp or hot or humid or whatever, the day you print the graphic, those conditions may be different the day you finally try cutting the laminated...
  5. Gerber Omega question.

Ok there's two things I'd like to know how to do. 1) Is there a way in Composer to set things up so that any newly created shape or text has cutlines automatically turned "off"? (I don't design for vinyl, I design for print media) 2) Tougher one. Is there a way to set things up so that in...
  6. Wholesale work for local individuals

Once a year? It would seem no matter which decision you make it would be so inconsequential as to not even matter.
  7. font ID

    Oooops! Caslon Black.
  8. font ID

Caslon Bold. The y has been distorted.
  9. Golf Course Marker sign

Why do driving ranges do that? I mean to stick a sign out there and continually have to replace it? Seems archaic. There's a better way. At courses in my area, they put up PVC pipe poles (sunk into the ground)at 100, 150, 200, 250 yds. which are color coded. There's a couple signs that tell...

  11. Laminate Cutting Force?

  13. VersaWorks won't cut!

Thanks everyone. I've been out to a job site and didn't get back on the forum 'til now. Turns out it was a combination of things. For one, when I reloaded Versaworks, I re-loaded from my original startup disk, version 1.5. The tech tells me that version is too old to update VW to the current...
  14. for the gun loving guys out there

    Childish.
  15. Is it just me?

No, although it seems that way. The truth is we tend to notice things more when consequences are higher. We have what is called a awareness bias. Evolutionarilly speaking, there's a lot more importance in noticing when a tiger maybe lurking nearby and being correct about it, than not noticing.
  16. VersaWorks won't cut!

bump! C'mon, someone surely knows. Hey all you VersaWorks experts..
  17. thoughts on employee production

What you are encountering is no different than what is going on idustry-wide. I suspect that many small shops have no clue. We're paying full medical benefits, vacations, holidays, etc. He gets a cell phone paid, too. Our company is also funding an retirement IRA for him matching up to 3% of...
  18. thoughts on employee production

Dan, at our shop labor costs are 20% of final sales price. Been this way for a long time. Materials are a nick over 21%. These are yearly averages. Can vary day to day or job to job. (truck lettering is low on materials, for example) That means if we're paying twenty bucks (that's about the...
  19. VersaWorks won't cut!

Ok we had to re-load all programs including Versaworks. Our Roland is printing fine, but files sent to cut won't do so. Clues: In Job Settings/Cut Controls the box where you tick "cut all paths" is greyed out. Someone suggested that maybe I had the wrong profiles in there. (I guess there's...
