Cobalt Blue is preferred because it has a very high saturation of pigment. If the printhead is getting too old and not printing an even coat, it will show up most readily with this test. I don't recall any of the firmware tests being useful for this most telling of print tests.

Anytime we have had similar malfunctions, we have copied the file and pasted it into a new workspace, saved it with a new name and used that as the production file. This has always corrected the problem.
