  2. Images don't show up

Opening an .ai or .eps from GA will require you to import it. works fine for the vector shapes but colors get changed quite a bit. Same thing when you export your .plt file to .ai or .eps, shapes are ok but colors are not. The only way i know to import vector art into photoshop is to copy...
  3. Solid surface materials

Please do post some pics ... Sounds verry nice!
  4. MDF Board Signs

MDF is not good for outdoor uses. For paints, a good quality enamel primer and One Shot paints are best in my opinion. As a cheaper alternative you can also use One Shot's Graphic Coat line of bulletin colors. Ronan and Chromatic are good paints as well .. But i find One Shot paints cover best.

  7. Comic Sans vs. Tekton

Here is a sign i did a few years back using Comic sans serif. I dont remember the name of the other font used.
  8. Comic Sans vs. Tekton

Yeah your right Fred, they do look similar. They have the same stroke weight and rounded edges. You get the same feel looking at both fonts. Tekton looks more "professional" because of its straight vertical allignment and they have a nice extended round tip at the end of strokes, consistent...
  9. Signs101 Gallery Watermarking

I see it like pictures in sign magazines. If someone really wants to they could scan the pic and use it for their purposes. Just like a magasine scan is not of verry good quality the same would apply to low/medium resolution pictures in the gallery. I prefer no watermarks so we can enjoy the...
  10. Pricing Your Work

The way i price my stuff is pretty much based on my experience and my thoughts on what my local market is. I respect anybody who uses a formula to figure out their quote and is sucsessfull with it ( be it per square inch or foot). My feeling on it is there is to many variables in my work to...
  11. Changing gradient colors

Ok .. ive tried long enough .. i have to ask ... In Flexi (6.x) when one wants to change a color node in the gradient bar, can you chose a color that is on the screen? ... meaning not being limited to the colors in the color drop down box.

Hi mark. I have a Roland Soljet and ususally what i design in Ilustrator comes out the same on the print. But it hapens often enough that colors are way off. If i really want to be precise with color i have some color charts that i have printed (also marked on the print what resolution and...

  15. Newbie mistake?

You load your material ... push Setup so it scans the width of your material then you back it up to where you want your knife to start ... once you are stoped to where you want your cut to start from ... You push "Origin Set" on the plotter ... Then from the pc you can send the job. P.S...
  16. Newbie mistake?

Are you setting your point of origin on the plotter before you send the cut file to it?
  17. What do people use to view/manage fonts

  18. What do people use to view/manage fonts

Eli ... That post sounded so desperate for a topic that i might as well inquire about something  I use Thumbsplus and Typograph to view/manage my fonts. Thumbs was the first i had (about 5 years ago) and i also use it to view picture files. Typograph is geat because not only...
  19. Scanning / tracing

I'm a streamline user, but what i do is my final artwork to be scanned is done with a fine tip felt marker on glossy paper (so the ink wont run or give a fuzzy edge).Placed over top of a preliminary pencil drawing on a light table. Sometimes i even go as far as hand cut the artwork with amber...
