  1. Font Check...thanks in advance.

    The caps look like Aachen.
  2. How much area around.....

If I may offer one piece of advice. Don't set your printer parallel to the wall. Or against the wall. Put it perpendicular to a wall. With the ink supply area sticking out. It's far more efficient that way. If you need to see a photo of how I've got mine set up, I'll shoot a photo and post it.
  3. Next Question- VP vs SP....Battle royal!

Does the VP have additional print heads? (more than the two in the SP)
  4. old ink

Didn't even know the cartridges had a "pull date" on them. But what is the problem? Do you think you won't start using the ink before 27 days?
  5. A chance to upgrade...or not

Appreciate the comments I'm getting. Yes, the machine clearly offers more. Much faster printing, much wider color gamut, and the dryer is superior to what I have. Also the takeup mechanism would be soooooo handy to have. Seems like some of you feel it may not be the "time" to do this. Or at...
  6. A chance to upgrade...or not

Yes, PCSS. Cost: $22,495 and $23,495. Is this a decent deal? Trade in offer for my machine, 8-9 thou.
  7. A chance to upgrade...or not

Distributor stopped by yesterday. They've taken in two nearly new Roland Sol-Jet Pro III XC-540V's in trade. (the seller upgraded to 72" machines). I'm currently running some older (2-3 years) equipment, namely a Roland SP-540V machine which I like very much. But the chance to upgrade has me...

Well, this is the right place. Welcome from the Great Pacific Northwest! I've been around for a while so I'm happy to contribute when I can. For the most part a good group of people here.
  9. plotter is going off course

Also, aside from the foregoing, if your printed laminated work is glossy, the pinch rollers can slip some. Especially with a drag knife set at 135 grams downward force. (laminates are thick) Also, be sure the print isn't dusty. Also, you can wipe the pinch rollers with alcolhol to free them of...
  10. plotter is going off course

Don't know if the Mimaki machine is anything like ours, but on ours there is a command in the operating menu called "perform environmental match". We run this command (takes 20 seconds) everytime we're about to cut printed work that's been out of the machine and laminated and put back in the...

Hello Erik, greetings from the great Pacific Northwest. Wanna trade weather?
  12. Baffling PhotoShop question

Stuck on this one. I have inserted a photo I wish to use as a reflection map for a chromed letter effect I'm doing. I've saved that photo in the folder into which Eye Candy 4.0 goes to retrieve these. Eye Candy applies the photo into my lettering just fine, but only a small portion of the...
  13. how tdo I remove gradient from diamond plate clipart

Agree with Isign. Tough to do. Unless the file is still layered. By the way is that one of Fred's? The ones by him that I have are super nice quality and without gradient.
  14. What AntiVirus Software Do You Use ? ? ?

We run AVG 8.0 (the paid edition). (about 80.00 for two years) And they're running a special: When you upgrade now (from AVG 7.5) they give you (3) licenses for two extra computers. That works.

  17. what's the ink cost per sq ft on a HP 5500?

Can they give out a square footage price on ink costs? Seems like percent of coverage and ink density would be factors.
  18. Omega 3.0

Ok Doug, thanks for the back story. Wasn't fully aware of that bit. I'll back off. Back to topic: To my mind, Gerber has always been pricey but their stuff is good and solid. Also I've not personally encountered anything that could be described as chicanery with the Company itself. I did have...
  19. Omega 3.0

Wow, Signage you sure have a way with words. Tony is a super guy and Gerber a quality company. I wouldn't be so quick to impune them as you have.
