  1. Roland SP-540V prints white lines

Can the SP print White? Or do you mean the heads are not laying ink down in those areas?
  2. Let me tell you about Chuck

I read through these 36 posts fairly thoroughly. And let me say, I'm not an owner of, nor an operator of any kind of CNC routing equipment. But I am a business person and a pretty good judge of things. I think Gino and Isign have stated the matter pretty well, and exactly what I was thinking...
  3. what is your weighted average sale?

Our labor constitutes about 22% of the job. And our materials bill is about 20%. Average ticket about $115.00 US
  4. How's your Orange

The color gamut on the VP isn't very wide. You'll have to be content with not so vibrant oranges and don't even try for Kawaski green. Or....upgrade to the XC with the six cartridges.
  5. Just had it serviced! Now what!

What did the test prints look like before he left?
  6. Happy to find some brothers and sisters.

Welcome from the Pacific Northwest! Regards, Brother Threeputt
  7. Contour Cut Is Cutting Shadow and Letter

I'm sure I'm going to be of no use to you since I don't have a working knowledge of Flexi. But it sounds as if you've got the cutline (cutting path information) applied to the letter's shape. When you only want it around the shadow? Correct? (would help if you could show a .jpeg of your...
  8. Contour Cut Is Cutting Shadow and Letter

In order to sort this out, may I ask a couple of quick questions? 1) In VersaWorks, when you click on the cut controls icon, then go to cut only, do you get the red "marching ants" showing that you've programmed a cutline in all of those areas? (the ones where you don't want the cut) 2) Is...
  9. Photoshop question regarding color.

Techman, I've read through the entire comments by Brian. But I'm still very confused. Since he's setting up artwork for sheet-fed print production, would those settings be useful for me and my application? What I'd ideally like is for someone who's running similar software and hardware to help...
  10. Photoshop question regarding color.

Any comments on my settings in PhotoShop?
  11. Photoshop question regarding color.

This is the way my settings look in PhotoShop 7.0. (I know it very old) Should they be set differently? I print on a Roland SP-540v using Versaworks RIP. Appreciate any and all comments.
  12. Color variation problem - Photoshop experts!

Exactly how does one do that? When you save as .tif (as I do) doesn't the software automatically save the profile along with it?
  13. Photoshop question regarding color.

I know that I really need to take a course, or bone up on color theory in general. But can anyone help with a couple of quick questions from a rookie? When developing a layout for print in PS, should one work in RGB or CMYK? If one works in RGB, when and where does the color conversion to...
  14. Color variation problem - Photoshop experts!

So then...do most of you guys use 3951RA cast to make flat signs? If the color of the logo needs to match a wrap you may have done for them? That media is about $520.00 per roll versus $200.00 per roll for 3651. And...it requires the cast laminate, also about $500.00 per roll. Not to mention...
  15. Color variation problem - Photoshop experts!

Now I'm really confused. I did select the proper media profile in my RIP program before proceeding with the printing. Same thing when I used the 3551. I re-selected the profile in the RIP for that media use. Shouldn't that have corrected things? So the colors would be the same regardless of the...
  16. Color variation problem - Photoshop experts!

Thanks guys, I'm learning. But what I think I'm hearing you all say is that there's no way to match up colors when going from media to media. Right? But if that is so, then how would a guy handle this: The client has several vehicles wrapped (3951RA) then says "hey make me a sign for the...
  17. Color variation problem - Photoshop experts!

Come to think of it, I did use 3951RA on the first three vehicles and 3551 on this last one. (because the curves of the sheetmetal were pretty mild) Could that be it? If so, how does one handle color variances due to media differences?
  18. Color variation problem - Photoshop experts!

Can anyone think of what might be going on in this scenario: We've wrapped several vehicles for this client. This last one was picked up and the client calls back 30 minutes later to say the colors are "off". (different from the others) Our wrap guy jumps in the pickup and runs over there...
  19. roland question's

We've never, ever seen a line or anything that would indicate the printer had stopped for a minute while a cart was changed out. If yours is doing that, there may be a mis-match between your media and the profile you're using. Just a guess. Have your tech come out and look at it. Seriously...
  20. roland question's

The machine itself will beep to let you know when it's time to insert an ink cartridge. Can't make sense out of your second question.
