  1. Should they honor their price?

Usually, I say that an error in pricing if discovered early, before any work by either party is performed, should be forgiven. (how would you feel if some employee mis-quoted a client, you discovered it, and had to call the client) But in this particular case, I think that the vendor should...
  2. Hello

Welcome Jeff and Kat from the Pacific Northwest.
  3. I got fooled!

Yeah, well maybe it'll come on Thursday. Right now I think I'll run home and see my son coming in from Seattle. Merrry Christmas to all.
  4. I got fooled!

Ok, went out and had coffee at Mickey's this morning to get all jacked up to load new software. (after hemming and hawing for months trying to decide, I finally bought Omega's latest and greatest, (two copies) DHL delivered the bright yellow and red box a week ago. But I didn't open it. I...
  5. OOOh noooo

Prism1 thanks for posting that link. Though I've cleaned my encoder strip several times, I never thought to clean the slot in which it runs. So I've gleaned that information today thanks to you. I have used compressed air to blow out the area around the sensor's "eye" with good success, also...
  6. OOOh noooo

Zeth, easy fix. The previous poster has it right. The only thing I would add is that the encoder strip is also calibrated on the bottom (the part that you don't see). So if you find that the strip is damaged, scratched or whatever, you can flip it over. One screw on each end. Obviously...
  7. vp 540

Call the Roland representative in your area and ask him about replacement pumps. Here's a link to Roland. www.rolanddga.com
  8. Dude, where's my ink?

Don't have the same machine but my machine recycles if the sub-power is on. (which is always) Your machine may be similar. I think it's just the program's way of protecting against ink dry-up. Not to worry.
  9. Plotter Art Seamless Texture tiles....just got it!

Looks like Fred's Seamless Texture tiles is a winner! Came today and I'm messing with it. Comes with full color pages and it's own full size binder. Handy user's guide in the front too. Great job Fred. I'm happy.
  10. Setting cut lines in Illustrator for Roland VersaWorks

Also, in VersaWorks be sure in your cutting controls dialog box that you don't inadvertently have "2" checked in the "cut passes" box.
  11. New Member From Chicago

Hi Corey and welcome. Does the wind still blow like hell across the Chicago river in the winter? lol. Used to live in Des Plaines and took the Northwest line into the loop. Worked for an engineering firm there in their modeling group. Again, welcome.
  12. Printers and cold weather areas

But I'd think twice about using one overnight. We keep our shop at 60 when we leave. Run about 70 during the day. Oh...don't forget to use Environmental Match every morning.
  13. Most Common Fonts Used?

Impossible question! No seriously, every designer tries for uniqueness. Matching the font with the type, feel, flavor of the business he's designing for. If you're asking about secondary text, you know, just that ad copy that fills in the message, I'll use something in the Arial family before...
  14. Gerber Sales Team update.

Ok, on the 12th I posted that I'd responded to a solicitation from Gerber on the 7th of November and that no one had gotten back to me in a weeks time. Some of you said that it might take some additional time since my response would more than likely get forwarded to a distributor. Well, now...
  15. Something I've alreay learned

We make it a point to disengage the wheels when the machine sits overnite. But it's also very important to make sure your laminator rolls are not engaged for prolonged periods! I think the cost of replacing one of those would far exceed pinch roller wheels. Just a reminder.
  16. SP540v Running with No Ink

Watch when you scissor open the ink carts. Be sure not to nick the sensors.
  17. What sells the most ?

Your question is a bit confusing. Are you going to try and pre-cut designs then find a buyer for them? Or are you simply going to make whatever clients want?
  18. First Time purchase/set up

Christians..Heathens...hear me. In my opinion the OP was not real far out asking for advice here. More than likely he knew (or suspected) he might get a roasting, but was willing to risk it in order to achieve something. Ok. Most sign guys (and gals) are supremely sensitive to this very kind...
  19. Cutting Gerber Edge Prints Using a Mimaki CG130FX Vinyl Cutter

Additionally, how will the Mimake detect and register from registration marks made by the Edge. Can you simply program an icon in the printed image that the Mimaki is looking for?
  20. Cutting Gerber Edge Prints Using a Mimaki CG130FX Vinyl Cutter

We are running Gerber Edge and their plotter with XP. It certainly can be done. BTW, we are similarly set up. Two design stations, one for Edge and HS-15Plus plotter and one for Roland stand alone printer/cutter. XP on both.
