yes, as said by zsigns, the acrylic would get trimcap, then screwed to the sidewalls of the box
the backer can be riveted on - that's what the 1" break on the sides is for
tomorrow I can draw up an example if needed
backer: .063 aluminum/dibond - white
sides: 4.5" - 6" wide length(s) of .040 with a break @ 1" (for an 18x24 you would need a 7'1" section (the extra 1" is to overlap the seam where they meet together) and a 90degree notcher for the corners
face: acrylic with trimcap
