That's cool. There's a guy on this board named Tony and he's an engineer with Gerber. He monitors this board for questions like this. He'll probably see your post on Monday. He'll know whether you have to upgrade to CP and how much it'll cost.

  8. Bitmap in AI, Help Please!

If you can obtain the artwork in vector form rather than raster (.bmp) it will make the job easier. If you can't you'll probably have to "posterize" a color version, then you'll be able to add color to the various shapes. Alternatively, you can import into a paint program such as PhotoShop...
  9. Avg. Accounts Receivable - HOW MUCH?

Ok, good. I always figured that if we offer credit to our good paying clients, and they pay within 30 days, then we're going to have something like a months worth of work coming in at any given time. Our cash customers help keep the percentage under 100%. The lates and slows bump it up a...
  10. Avg. Accounts Receivable - HOW MUCH?

We typically have 20-25 thousand, but it can be higher. For us it's usually about a month's gross, give or take. (8.33% Fred?)
  11. $$$ can there be a decent income $$$

Value of the business can be stated in a variety of ways. One way, that I've heard about is this. Take the gross sales figure for the year, subtract the owner's salary. What's left can be multiplied by a factor of anywhere between 1.0 and 2. That's a rough snapshot of the value of the...

Agree with Kenny, nice job. Fred, you're a steady hand on the tiller.
  13. Few questions about SC 545EX

Chris do you currently have 2 gig RAM? I only have 1 gig but am going to go out and purchase some more. When you're tossing a 750meg file backand forth it's a little slow.

Thank you Tony. I'm going to fuss with this stuff today. I guess PhotoShop 7.0 is pretty old, but it's all I've got. My Omega is much more up to date. Omega 2.1.1
  15. Gerber users only.

Any help appreciated, Tony. Yes, I'm a bit backward learning about color management. I'm not sure which box should be checked on or off, and which values determine what. I'll watch for your explanations. Thanx.
  16. New Guy in Ventura, Ca. WITH PICS!!!

Welcome from the Great Pacific Northwest. (Leo...you may want to look closer at your flyer. I think there may be a mispelling of the word sketch) Good to have you aboard.
  17. Gerber users only.

Was wondering if someone could help me with certain export settings. Seems when I export a file as a .tif or .bmp, there occurs quite a color shift when that same file is re-opened in say, PhotoShop. Is it all in the Black/White filter settings in the export dialog box? Can anyone tell me if...
  18. Playing Cards

If you scan the art from a deck of playing cards, are you not violating copyright law? Maybe Fred could enlighten me, cuz I've read so very many posts on this type of thing I'm getting the wrong idea. Is this any different than scanning a photo of an animal out of a photography book?
  19. Just a Quick Intro.

Welcome from the Great Pacific Northwest. We don't specialize in anything. We're pretty much an all around sign shop.
  20. ok more problems with my 300v

Be careful cleaning the encoder strip. Use denatured alcohol and a lint free, clean, and very soft cloth. Might take two cleanings. Be sure it's back down all the way in the track before you re-start the equipment. It's markings are sort of fragile. Good luck.
