  1. Cutting Banners

A HUGE +1 I always quote assuming a taped hem... I don't even make it an option! It's your reputation on the line when the un-hemmed banner starts tearing, curling and looking like crap and people ask your customer; "where did you get that done?". Not worth the risk!
  2. Excel Nightmare...

Thanks for the reply's! This is a real messed up job! When I print to PDF and "fit to page"... that works, but the top 50 or so cells of text are blank! :banghead: I've decided that this is now the customers issue, as they don't want to pay me to fix the file, as they "supplied art"! I told...
  3. Hi, folks

Welcome from Calgary, Alberta! :Canada 2:
  4. Excel Nightmare...

I have a Microsoft Excel file supplied by a customer that is 22 columns wide by 724 columns long. They want me to print a 60 x 70 poster from this file. I'm at a loss as to how to get this to work... :banghead::banghead::banghead: Any ideas? My first instinct is to tell the customer that I will...
  5. Sign for Signs

Here's my feeble attempt at Photoshop! I know it sucks... but it's my first try at something like this! Forgot the "s" at the end... so I'm having a "fire sale" for this one!!

  7. New Macbook Pro out today

I LOVE THIS THREAD! :clapping: CES020... you're a riot... thanks for the laugh! What it boils down to for me is the fact that everything does "just work" on the Mac. I've never had an issue with plugging something in and it not working! I'm very fortunate that the price is not an issue for me...
  8. New Macbook Pro out today

:rock-n-roll::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: You're a hoot! I obviously like the Apple flavored KoolAid®! But if I'm not mistaken, Microsoft doesn't build computers... do they? Aren't they just the software? Do they back all of the hardware AND the software if you are having issues? I'm sincere here, as I'm...

Foreigner? I love that band! :clapping: Welcome from Calgary, Alberta! :Canada 2:
  10. how do you hem mesh banner

It won't collect dirt if you take a big sewing needle and poke out all the holes where the adhesive is exposed! Takes a heck of a lot of time, but WOW it sure makes the banner more profitable if your customer will pay say $1 per hole!
  11. Hello from Sweden

  12. A hello and introduction to all

Welcome from Calgary, Alberta! I went through a similar change as you, but I went from a printing company to a printing/sign company, so the transition was very minor and the customer base was already in place. One thing I would advise is not to cheap out on equipment! :thumb:
  13. How long do you outgas?

For prints off my Roland, I go at least 16 - 24 hours, depending on what I'm doing with it when it's done. For myself... well, now that I'm down 45lbs. and on a cleansing lifestyle, it all depends on what I eat. If I eat greasy food, I can sometimes outgas for a week! :ROFLMAO:
  14. How do you help customers will low budgets out?

+1 (oh yeah, that's +2, cause Jill also agrees! :Big Laugh) Gino & Pat offer excellent advice here! :thumb:
  15. New Macbook Pro out today

Just got back from the Apple Store like 3 minutes ago with two brand spankin' new 15" 2.2GHZ MBP's... one for me and a nice surprise for my lovely wife! :clapping::clapping: Can't wait to get home and crack 'em open!
  16. what would you pay for this line drawing

I'd expect to pay $100 to $150 for that Eric, and I think the detail amount is just right. I'd be able to work with a vector like that to further customize it to my customer's needs if necessary. I would be selling that image to my customer for at least $300 if not more. Which raises a question...
  17. I gotta hand it to my wife...

Happy 25th Anniversary Brian! You are an amazing couple, and I say that after only spending a few days getting to know you both! :toasting::toasting:
