From our perspective I wouldn't call the Cheetah wrap films cheap given your install time's longer. Teckwrap and KPMF I think are still less expensive than the 3M/Avery/Oracal films. They all just install differently.
I only brought up HDU as I'd heard one of the tech's that setup our CNC initially talk about HDU being an option. The cost alone from using HDU is already pretty steep. We use a Busch Mink 1252 AV vac on our AXYZ 4010.
We typically use cheaper MDF or the Trupan LDF, but I was having a hard time finding it initially. I got a supplier nearby to order some 1.5" thick sheets for us. Thanks for the responses.
I'd expect that truck to be in the higher end of the spectrum price wise given the size of the vehicle, options you want covered and the dually fender flares.
We load our Axyz from the front or the sides. I don't think it would be a big deal to have your workflow function that way. Here's some paperwork we have on floor print for a 5x10ft based machine.
We use Onyx Thrive to rip our files and you can negatively trap the white by however many pixels beneath the CMYK output. The real problem is your head alignment though. The white is out of calibration relating to your color channels.
My understanding is they want to be able to cover any vehicle damage that could happen as a result of housing the vehicle for the installation. If you're insured for $350K worth of inventory/machinery and you place burns down with a $120K car inside, you're going to have a problem.
Cheetah wrap is a permanent vinyl. It is fairly low tack which does require post heating as you work instead of at the end which is generally the way we'd work. I feel like I can install 3M/Avery faster overall than the cheetah wrap, but that's just with skill set and work flow.
For $50k budget I think Shopsabre is the way to go. The camera setup on our Axyz is a little slow sometimes to read all the dots and it's quite sensitive to the lighting conditions, but I'd think printing registration dots and then cutting by camera would be smart. Also I don't think I'd get a...
If you can find it, it's worth trying the 1375/1377 Oracal tape. It's about 1/3 the cost for a 48.50"W x 55yd roll. I've had some outdoors for 3yrs now on a vehicle and it's held up fine, honestly too fine. I'm going to have to yank it off eventually, but I've been super impressed. Most of...
Whewwww, that Bron killer red tape in full log rolls is pricey stuff! Looks like they can max out at a nominal 53"W for their rolls though which can be helpful. The folks at Oracal are always very helpful for us, but the lead times and sources for the 1377 tape they offer have been tough lately.
We get the Oracal from Glantz, but anyone that resells Oracal products should be able to order. Glantz is pretty unorganized out here, but I can usually email the Oracal rep and see what's in stock before I order. Oracal for us in general has been excellent to work with. They've jumped...
I cut adhesive side down with our stuff 99% of the time. We cut heaps of logos that get mounted to other acrylic or printed SBS display components. Glantz carries the 137X Oracal tape in the wider 48.5" plus rolls, although getting it while it's in stock is tough. The adhesive is super gummy...
I use an Oracal adhesive that comes in 48.50"W rolls. There's two thicknesses of adhesive, but it's excellent stuff. Pretty sure it's 1377 or 1375 for the thinner stuff.
