  1. Skunk!

I always heard the tomato thing worked, but never had to try it. I think it was the acid in them that helped get rid of the smell. Gino, how old is that dog now? According to how old you claim to be, that's got to be oldest living dog around. Dave
  2. Customer Humor

Had this happen to me with boat numbers. He wanted the numbers in the same order on both sides of the boat. Should of seen the look on MY face when he said that. Couldn't convince him he was wrong, so I cut them his way. He was happy when he left. Always wonder who remade them and what he said...
  3. Customer Humor

Glad you chimed in Jiarby. From reading the other thread, I just thought everyone needed to lighten up some. Good to see you have a sense of humor. Dave
  4. Customer Humor

Just to lighten things up a little winding down for the weekend, I thought we could have some customer related humor to end the day. No bashing, just some humor that makes this profession worth while. We had a call from a guy in a panic needing just some black arrows to fit on 18x24 signs we...
  5. New Versaworks mystery

We have this happen sometimes. When you hit the rip icon, it shows the gears turning, but will not send the job to the printer. Like you said, you need to shut down VW and restart. I think I've even had to shut the printer down and restart it before VW would send the info. Seems like it...
  6. If you could start over what would you buy and why

I agree with most that has been written, but not sure I saw anyone mention a contractor's license. If you're planning on installing any sign whether it's lit or not, I'm sure you'll need a contractor's license and the lit ones are another ball game. This is my downfall. I don't have one and I...
  7. Tradeshow Panel Lamination Drift?

Agree with Jarby. When we're doing a project with muliple panels, we try to run them the same direction thru the laminator. Found out the hard way if the panel stretches some while being lam'd, the registration marks don't always line up. Sometimes it depends on the vinyl and lam how much it...
  8. Cart Crazy

Looks good. How hard was the nose piece to wrap? I have one here now that needs done. Do you have templates or just wing it? I see where you have both the old and new style sides. Mine doesn't need a full wrap, just some graphics, sponsor names and numbers. Dave
  9. Tools to remove "security Fasteners"

It's called a security bit. Just google it and you'll get many hits. The bit has a hole in the center for the pin. Dave
  10. Remove Back Ground

A crude way would be to outline it with the pen tool in flexi, then mask it. Might take some time depending how clean you want it. Or contact the Vector Doctor Dave
  11. scan motor error

I think you're stating two different problems. Feed has nothing to do with scan motor overcurrent. How long was the printer running when yo got the error code? If you were running a long job, it may have put an excessive duty cycle on the scan motor. Depending how old the printer is and to...
  12. Any ideas?

Depending how cheap they want to go, we did a LOST TIME ACCIDENTS sign for a steel mill. Cut 4'x6" aluminum with random numbers on them to place on the main sign everyday. Used velcro to attach them to the main board. That was seven years ago and the sign is still being used. The security...
  13. Shipping for Customers

We get alot of ware from suppliers packed in the annoying styrofoam "peanut" crap that sticks to everything from the static. I just laugh when when I'm packing trophies and filling the box with the peanuts. This is how we get rid of this stuff. Just pass it on. We rarely charge for dunage...
  14. engraving shop job order forms?

Hope this works. First time trying to post something.
  15. engraving shop job order forms?

I'll try to post what we use. It's really basic as far as order forms, but we leave allot of space for additional information. We just use the copier to make more. Couple of things I've found out over the years: 1. Ask for the customers info typed, not hand written. Too hard to read and...
  16. royal sovereign value?

We have a RSS 1050n. I guess that's the model. Has a foot pedal, can do both hot/cold , but doesn't have the take up reel. We use it to lam and apply vinyl to substrate. Only problem we're having is a miss in it. I think one of the gears is either worn or missing. Sometimes it jumps when...
  17. 18" x 10' Rigid, Reusable Signs

Tell them you'll be a non profit company too if you do what they ask. If our customers want to re-use any signage from one year to the next, we have them peel and clean the glue. If not, it's a new sign. Dave
  18. Sp-300 not printing at all

Could be either a bad contact with the flex cable to the heads or even a break in one of the wires. Or worst case a problem with your main board. Might check to see if the connection at either end of the cable has come loose. [unplugged] This is straight from the service manual for the...
  19. Sp-300 not printing at all

Did you pull the ink thru the capping stations? Remove the hoses from the pump and pull from there. Also check your waste bottle. If it's full, you might be losing ink because of a bad seal. Dave
  20. There goes my cutting strip!

I guess it would depend on how wide/deep the groove is whether the teflon strip will bridge across and not bend or flex during cutting. I was trying to think of something you could use to fill the groove. Silicone, glue gun, maybe even super glue. Just fill the void and make sure it stays at...
