  1. Funny Damaged Sign

not funny to me I think signs like these are hilarious. Can't get away with something like this trying to sell it. There was a truck running around town a couple of years ago belonging to a company that builds steel buildings. On the side it said " STEEL ERECTIONS". Busted a gut evertime I...
  2. Client emails that make your day! :)

We put floor graphics down for the Conference Basketball Tourney last Friday evening. The girl showed up to hang all the sponsor banners we had made, but with no help. We stuck around and helped her out. Next morning the guy who owns the Sports Marketing Co we do business with called needing a...
  3. Sign painted on side of building

If you have a way to install it, sub out the banner. If you help out with this request, it might lead to more business. We had a request for a 20' x 50' banner. Had it printed and dropped shipped to Las Vegas. The coumpany hung it on a building they were going to implode. The banner lasted all...
  4. Metal Business Cards

Might want to try sublimation. We played around one day and made some for our own use. We used a bunch of leftover peices we had lying around that would probably have been pitched in the scrap box. We used gold and silver aluminum to sub on. Left them sitting on a desk where we fill out customer...
  5. ink on encoder strip

I never tried it, but was told you could flip the encoder strip over [not end for end] and it will read the same. When I was going to try it, the strip just looked too dirty and I felt it would not work. If you have the time and the one you have can't be cleaned, might give it a try. Dave
  6. SP-300 not printing after powerful cleaning

Might try removing the cover over the capping stations and see if there's any ink in them. This will tell you if the pump is drawing ink from the cartridge. If they show no ink, you might have to draw it mannualy with a syringe. A search will get you loads of info. Dave
  7. dye sub anyone?

We dye sub on aluminum only. Use it for the awards side of the business. We use an HP 4500 color jet. The previous one we had lasted 9 yrs. Just got a rebuild one and it seems to be doing fine. Our suppliers are Continental Trophy, Discount Trophy and Marco. Dave
  8. Your criteria for firing a customer

"Used" to have a friend that I worked in the mill with. We were advertising in the local paper, but not knowing if it was actually bringing in any new customers. We decided to put a 10% off coupon in the ad figuring we might be able to track which customers were using us based on the...
  9. Hello from slower lower Delaware.

Welcome from Wild and Wonderful WV. Maybe I'll look you up when I come over there this summer to Rehobeth Beach. Been going there for about 25 yrs. Dave
  10. Just how accurate should print/cut be?

Welcome to Signs 101 Sounds like the cut is off on both the scan and feed. Could just be the rollers slipping on the lam material. Make sure they're clean of debris and any oily substance. There are many posts about the problem you're having. With that said, some things to look for: Worn...
  11. Okay... Who took my straight edge?

Guy comes in the shop one day to order some awards. He's sitting in a chair by my wife's desk. When he leaves, he takes her car keys. At the end of the day, we look everywhere for them. Finnally figure out it was he that took them. Called him and left a message about the keys. Two days later he...
  12. 4X4 Meaty Mud Tire

    Sent you a pm. Dave
  13. profit sharing programs for employees?

Profit sharing is sometimes a touchy subject. How do you share? Most are based on total income of an employee per year including overtime. Then they get a percent of the company profit. It needs to be based on the gross because of the deductions per pay factor. How do you decide what employee...
  14. Help

Maybe Rockwell Extra Bold with a twist, stretch and distort?

  16. Can't We Just Shoot'em?

I'm a two generation father. All three kids are girls. The first two by my first wife lived with me most of their life. They are now 37 and 35. Each have three kids of their own. Two good families with good husbands who actually work. I was almost like their big brother when they were growing...
  17. Staying competitive

For us it's probably 80% print.....20%cut. When we first got the printer about five years ago, we did more cut than print. Now if the simple signs (text only} are more than one color, we print. Why do you ask? Dave
  18. Just stops printing and states Not Connected in VersaWorks

Might try changing the cable from your PC to the printer. If the cord has been hanging down or has a bind at either plug end, a wire might have broken. I once found a bad cable where the wire was broken and sometimes made contact if you jiggled it. Just a thought Dave PS When you get it...
  19. Greetings from Asbury Park ....er, wait.

Welcome to the forum from another Hillbilly. Great people with great advice. Been here about a year and everyday is an adventure. Dave
  20. Becoming a Roland Tech...

I've been trying for a couple of years. Yes, you have to be a dealer and that's a whole nother ball of wax. Our "local Roland Dealer" lost their franchise. I immediately contacted Roland inquiring about being a dealer and going to their University. Bugged them for at least six months Got...
