Latest Update: First off I want to say that after removing/installing about six times I have become very proficient at swapping out a capping station. I can do it in less than fifteen minutes. :)
Bottom line is, the first new capping station I bought directly from China would not work and was...
New revelation..... I decided to give the whole capping system a good look and observe the operation closely. I noticed something odd about the cap tops. The new ones have a couple of little hooks sticking out, one towards the operator and the other toward the wiper. What's happening is the one...
Here is the latest. The new capping station crapped out completely and no longer works at all. I reinstalled the old capping station and carriage moves as it should without hanging, BUT when the capping station is cycling the wiper only goes half way out and gets stuck there, which then causes...
It's supposed to be an OEM but I am not sure. If the old capping station works then I'll be returning the new one for refund or replacement. I cleaned the sensor and encoder strip, and I even reversed it so the trailing end was the leading end. No change.
It was really stiff and hanging up badly at first and don't know what it was getting stuck on, it was not the head release, but I manually cycled the carriage about 25 times in the high and low settings. It's pretty smooth now and not hanging up, but I still get the error. Another thing I...
They must use a different head lock bracket on the 1204, it's solid and there is nothing that might hit it. Can't budge it. The lock is releasing OK and the carriage moves freely except for when the head parking/un-parking. The old Cap Top gasket looks flat compared to the new one so I may just...
Would appreciate any assistance diagnosing this issue. I was getting this error intermittently before I had any print quality issues. The error never happened while printing, it only happened occasionally when the print head was coming off the capping station. I recently replaced the printhead...
That would be very difficult. Even in person with my eyes I have to use a magnifying glass and bright light to see the details. I don't think I own a camera capable of capturing such a precise close-up image.
So the damper has some sort of a one way check valve incorporated into it? Seems like such a delicate balance to maintain, with the dampers playing a critical role in the process. I imagine if the check valve part of that fails the ink cartridge would suck all the ink out of the damper and you...
So, if there is no pressure pushing the ink and no suction from the head, then it's basically gravity fed? I know that's how my desktop printer works because the heads are right below the ink cartridges, but on this printer the ink cartridges are actually below the level of the printhead and the...
I was just curious about how the ink is delivered to the printhead on my Mutoh 1204? Is there a pump for each color? If pressurized what is the psi. on those lines? Does the head suck the ink from the lines, or does it merely act as a valve that opens and closes?
Please enlighten me.
Thanks
I am having a printhead output issue with my Mutoh 1204 and I wanted to see if there is anyone that might recognize the symptoms.
I did not notice this before, but when I use a magnifying glass to look at the Nozzle Check I discovered something interesting. My issue involves only the Cyan color...
In spite of the risk it pays to shop around. Last year all my rollers started to dissolve, the rubber was disintegrating from age. I shopped for new rollers and all I found was ridiculous prices wanting as much a 22 dollars per roller. I think there is what, 64 of them? After searching and...
I am in St Pete Florida, but labor is no problem. I am very mechanically inclined and do all my own vehicle and computer repairs. I was also able to obtain a copy of the factory service manual for this printer some time ago. I've already removed and reinstalled the existing printhead without...
I never did place an order. I wanted to exhaust all other possibilities first. And if I was going to order I would want to verify the Japan address and actually speak with a rep at that location before ordering, even if it is guaranteed by PayPal. I have seen other sellers in the $500 to $600...
I learned something today. I contacted Mutoh and sent a copy of my printer output. They normally don't respond to end users but I got a reply.
"If it’s only one color (which it is) I would think the alignments got knocked out of place somehow, or maybe the ink is expired."
I was under the...
I too would like to know how to get that done. My 1204 tells me the ink is run out but when I pull the cartridge I can hear 15 dollars worth of ink still sloshing around in there. As expensive as it is for original Mutoh ink I'd really like to be able to use all the ink I am paying for.
I did...
Interesting, so they actually do have a moving part of sorts if there is some kind of a diaphragm that is expanding and contracting. I suppose if that diaphragm fails you could have a real mess on your hands.
I've had this issue before. What happens is while the head is soaking some of the different colors of ink will siphon into the other channels. I use a "printer workout" page for that where I just print very large blocks of the pure 4 color inks. That flushes out whatever got siphoned into the...
