  1. Talk about "upping" your game...

But on a totally unrelated side note: Plumbers are still demanding a premium price for extracting yesterday's dinner from your clogged toilet, so I guess technology isn't all that it's cracked up to be. JB
  2. Talk about "upping" your game...

Behold, the time shall come. The reason I posted this was to help people begin the thought process of what they need to do to remain relevant in today's marketplace. More is being done on desktops today than what was being done in specialty prototype shops 25 years ago. And, in some cases...
  3. Talk about "upping" your game...

It never ceases to amaze me how the desktop maker world is ever evolving. This little gem has dual heads and tangential control, with a fairly impressive assortment of tools...and just $400. JB https://cricut.com/en_us/cricut-maker
  4. Suggestions Brainstorming for our company's new mascot?

Ever see the guy in a big black cowboy hat? Persona is what you make of it. JB
  5. Rant Customer wants to see $1M proof of insurance for $48 banner

Walk away from it right now. You've already consumed more than that in extra stress. JB
  6. template for acrylic letter

Heh...I just asked this question a couple of weeks ago. Lots of good answers here as well. JB
  7. How to clean Aluminum

Denatured alcohol, or perhaps enamel reducer, acetone or lacquer thinner. For bare metal, I always lean toward the last three. JB
  8. How to clean Aluminum

The black is just aluminum...you were actually polishing it...albeit in a very small way. The black never ends, so wipe it down with a high VOC solvent and apply your vinyl. JB
  9. Will artists/painters be obsolete in the near future?

I looked forward to a long rewarding career as a service station attendant...checking your oil, tires and squirts, filling your tank, and engaging you in a bit of small talk while you patiently waited. That all changed back in the late 70s....way before we had computers. JB
  10. Suggestions I want to get into subliminal work

Oh yeah? Well, here's what I heard about her: Sally's sublittoral subterfuge subconsciously subjugates subordinate submersed submariners, subtly subdued into subservience. Her subjective subpoenas, subsidized by suborn subscribers, subvene submissiveness. Anybody willing to go for 18? JB
  11. Suggestions I want to get into subliminal work

All kidding aside, subscribe to this magazine. They've been sending it to me free. It used to be A&E (Awards & Engraving). Good information and LOTS of stuff about sublimation. https://graphics-pro.com/ Here's the August issue: https://nbm.uberflip.com/i/1270661-august-20/0? JB
  12. Suggestions I want to get into subliminal work

Hey....subliminal messages might come in handy when it comes to marketing. If you haven't already named your business, you could call it Subliminal Sublimation...and perhaps you could sub out the work if you think you'd be sub par at the outset. As you know, there's no substitution for good...
  13. Type to curve around circle

Agreed. I run Illy, Corel, SignLab, and Gerber Omega. NOBODY beats Omega. It's absolutely fantastic for doing text on a circle, and on a spiral. It does not distort the letters, and it retains 100% edit-ability for font, kerning or any other characteristic (inline, outline, etc...). For...
  14. He called me for help with his sign

Dang...you caught me during an edit to my post. I also added the fact that there's a problem with the first line of text! JB
  15. He called me for help with his sign

The light is blocking their "Semen Repairs" service. And I don't care what anybody says...there's still not going to be enough room to list the free rectal / pelvic exams.... JB
  16. Just In Any Glass Men up to this?

This sign is definitely worthy of the gorgeous architecture it hangs on. With all the technology we have today, it's a shame we don't build grand buildings like this anymore. Aesthetics have given way to function...and that's to our own hurt. I did a little bit of research on this. It opened...
  17. Just In Any Glass Men up to this?

I dunno...but that just sounds icky! JB
  18. Just In Any Glass Men up to this?

Rub the biggest and boldest black Sharpie marker over your monitor completely...and make sure you reach all four corners. Image will appear within 30 seconds. If image does not appear, you have faulty Sharpies. Repeat the process using new Sharpies, more pressure and less profanity...
  19. Need Help Anyone know where to get the material to make this curb sign..looks cool!!!

Utterly blows my mind that it can stay adhered on porous concrete in the rain. JB
  20. If you're missing a letter in a sign... just stand and pretend you are that letter

Hear ye, hear ye...fab shops already have the equipment to make the magic happen, especially since the proliferation of CAD, waterjet, laser and plasma. I have to believe that a lot of them are in the process of improving their layout and design skills in order to jump into the sign market...
