  1. Someone just sent me this...logo?

Cool. We were on the "front lines" of homeschooling 25 years ago when it was still somewhat very controversial (especially when my mom was a 30-year veteran teacher). Both kids K through 12....and while we had our moments, it was the best experience ever. Now, I've got grand kiddos being...
  2. Someone just sent me this...logo?

Zeros have been officially banned in schools, due to the fact that the term can be used as a weapon to shatter a child's fragile esteem. JB
  3. Someone just sent me this...logo?

Hell...as a kid we had 1 through nine AND a zero! That is why this CAN NOT be a calculator. But since the logo favors real estate, perhaps it's a four story tenement with a penthouse suite. The three little dashes are most likely clerestory windows for the third floor tenants. JB
  4. Someone just sent me this...logo?

Any true artiest will quickly concur that it's not a calculator. It's a cheese grater. JB
  5. Hahahah

My brother is a retired kindergarten teacher. One day he happened to find a note on his desk (written by a tough little dude) that said: "Dear Mr. L, I hate you. Love, Bryce" Gotta hand it to kids...their stress must be pretty low, being able to vent like that. JB
  6. Hahahah

Oh man, I feel for you. The impending "womanly" years are going to be a trip..... JB
  7. Gerber GS15 parts wanted

Do it right and get a re-man from The Plotter Doctor. They don't turn gooey like OEM. JB
  8. Gerber GS15 parts wanted

    Sent you a PM. JB
  9. Introducing my scissors sharpening service. Special offer 10/21 thru 10/27/2020

Hey...I used to drive a short bus for a non-profit. I have to say that you'll never find more genuine people on the face of God's green earth. I've watched them during heated disagreements amongst themselves, and I've learned two things: 1) They're typically brutally honest with their words...
  10. Has to be an easier way??

I'm speaking of Omega....not Graphix Advantage. The "good old days" are still here. JB
  11. Has to be an easier way??

In Gerber Omega, it's only a check box in the text editor and you specify the parameters (included angle, radius, etc..). There's no messing around with making circles and going through a litany of commands. In addition to the parameters stated above, every text feature (font, size...
  12. Introducing my scissors sharpening service. Special offer 10/21 thru 10/27/2020

I blame that on regional dialect. And at the risk of offending members, I won't say just where, but I've heard it before. JB
  13. Introducing my scissors sharpening service. Special offer 10/21 thru 10/27/2020

Negative on the mismatched nails here...but I guess that's the trend these days. My daughter was big into Jamberrys and she still likes to rock the mismatch theme. Speaking of Jamberrys, it was a brilliant way to extort $15 for roughly for two square inches of nail wraps. By my estimate...
  14. Introducing my scissors sharpening service. Special offer 10/21 thru 10/27/2020

What am I missing here? I no longer have my mom's or gran's forged scissors from the 50s (they're way too heavy). I use Fiskars or some other variant...even the titanium ones. I use scissors daily to cut apart plotter-cut stencils...gazillions of them every year. I primarily use "shearing...
  15. My special offer to every Signs101 member. 10/14 thru 10/20/2020.

My scenario today was an elderly couple. And it all started with an "Oh, I just gotta show you....". She, too, had the magic purse of doom...and kept pulling out one thing after another...hell-bent to give me a bit o'inspiration for her project. The old gent paced throughout the shop like a...
  16. For the love of wine...and science.

On the contrary...and had you polled society back then, a majority wouldn't have had a clue what you were talking about. I think you're old enough to remember when school was just "school"...and aside from segregation years prior, there were no agendas to push. For us, it was nothing more...
  17. For the love of wine...and science.

Back in the 70s, we dudes were required to take six weeks of sewing and six weeks of cooking. And babes were right beside us in metal shop and wood shop. I still remember one particular eighth-grade cutie that looked exceptionally hot in welding goggles and leathers. I feel bad for the kids...
  18. For the love of wine...and science.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Speaking from experience, all that's required is that a teacher blow up a few things...or create a stench that permeates the entire school...or perhaps mix some incompatible substances like water and potassium....and they'll have you hooked for the rest of the year. I'm sorry, but...

I wish this guy had been one of my teachers...
