  1. What equipment can you not live without? When to buy it

The tool that has the biggest impact on my shop is Control Software. Our sales were limited to the number of prospects, customers and jobs that we could manage on paper. Our follow up with prospects was hit and miss. Keeping up with production schedules was sometimes overwhelming. Today we...
  2. Need Help Is coro-platics sign profitable?

We run Digitech printers. Not as fast as the Vutek, but they each run up to 40 boards an hour on coroplast.
  3. Need Help Is coro-platics sign profitable?

  4. Need Help Is coro-platics sign profitable?

Volume. Peak seasons we turn a pallet of 4x8 coro daily. Could do more but we only run 1 shift most of the time.
  5. Need Help Is coro-platics sign profitable?

If that’s the signs365 price, I need to raise my wholesale prices.
  6. Droplets around the edge of print head. Normal?

When we ran solvent printers we cleaned those areas with a Q tip every day to keep it from building up and effecting the seal on the capping station.
  7. Rant Who robs a sign shop?

The alarm company called at 10:30pm. 2 motion alarms had been set off. A quick check of my cameras showed no movement but I knew they had been there from the papers all over the floor of my front office. I went to the office to survey damage. This time they came in through a large exhaust fan...
  8. Need Help Chinese yb-2513 flatbed printer

The number 1 thing I consider when buying any printer is support. You will have a much better experience with a used printer from a known manufacturer and local support than you will with a new printer that offers service by phone in Chinese at midnight. Global Garage has a few printers...
  9. Question Anyone heard of Funsun printers?

2 issues to check for with overspray on a flatbed - Head Height and Static. Check to make sure your head height is properly set. A lot of operators will adjust the height up protect against bent corners, etc. We are in Houston, TX and had to install static bars on our flatbeds. Low humidity...
  10. Need Help Scaling a group of objects by sizing a single(smaller) object

Make a box the size you want the scaling box to become. Grab everything else and enlarge until the scaling box fits the correct size. It gets us close enough.

  12. Question Graphtec FC 8600 what is the maximum length I can cut? Can I run a job at 123"?

We slow the graphtec down when we run that long. You may have issues cutting so close to the edge of the media if you run 2 up since marks can add an inch on either side.
  13. What is the Recommended Profile for 3MIJ39 on HP Latex 360?

I agree with plasticizer. Try a roll from a different lot number.
  14. Industrial carpet floor mats

We’ve printed several on our flatbed for our office lobby. The graphic holds up for about 6 months. They have been used inside our front door so foot traffic is moderate and they get 5 hours of sun. We haven’t found a good edge finishing system, and our edges fail around the same time.
  15. Illustrator CC Question

The transform window has an align tab. That tab has your alignment and distribution tools. There is a drop down that lets you select alignment based on the art board or the selected items.
  16. We are thinking of getting a CNC Router, but This was interesting

Most flat bed cutting tables have a light router head option that will work on ACM, PVC, gator board, thin acrylics, etc. The other usual printed sign stuff, foamboard, Coroplast, cardboard, cut best with a reciprocating knife tool. Very thin stocks like styrene work well with fixed knife tools...
  17. Tape or Glue for installing plaques

Thanks for all the wisdom of experience. I’ll change my approach and use both.
  18. Tape or Glue for installing plaques

I'm installing 500 small anodized aluminum name plates to an outdoor painted cinderblock wall. The plates are 2"x5" and I'm considering a single 2x5 strip of VHB for the installation versus silicone. The customer has been told we want the paint to cure 30 days before installation. Any...
  19. Oce Colorado just installed

Congratulations on the new equipment. I’m looking at it for similar applications - wall coverings and banners. I’m interested to know why you plan to use 180 instead of a wall paper product.
