  3. Seiko Color Painter w-64s Wasatch Profiles

have you checked with wasatch? they had a few a while back, and since the printer is ancient, they are probably still around. you may also be able to find and use hp designjet 8000s profiles, as they are the same printer.
  4. Laminating Decals

Rule of thumb is that when you mix styles od media & lam, they will take the qualities of the lesser material. If you print on cal and lam with cast, it will act as cal. If you print on cast and lam with cal, it will act as cal. And if you are printing on cut vinyl only stock, you're gonna get...
  5. TORN!!! 3 flatbed.... help me choose...

CET has a 5x10 in development now. Same output, but bigger bed. ETA was end of the year, but haven't heard sooner than that. They did custom build a 6x10 for a few people, based on their old tables, but any new ones larger than 4x8 will wait for the new design. with the hybrid, your RIP and the...

Yeah, because standing on computer screens won't break them. Still pretty funny.
  9. Scaling an Image

OK. Basic math lesson for today: DPI = Dots per inch If you have 300 dots per inch on a 26.9 inch image, you have 8070 dots (300x26.9=8070) If you have 300 dots per inch on a 14.3 inch image, you have 4290 dots (300x14.3=4290) If the recommended printing resolution is 100 dpi (my basic...
  10. Awning Material

would it be possible? yes. would it be recommended? no. do it for 1500. if it fails, tell them you'll do it again for another 1500. you can remake the sign 6 times before you match their previous quote!
  11. Translucent Digital Printing

Use Oracal 3850 with the appropriate profile. It runs great on the L25500, and with the Oracal 215 lam, should last a long time (media is a 7year film)
  12. Thoughts on the new Epson SureColor printers??

the 720x720 3 pass is great for banners, and above 300sf/hr i believe. the 720x720 4 pass is 215 (according to the paperwork) and 720x1440 8pass is over 100 i think. So my numbers were a bit over, but these are a bit more in line. The only RIP I've seen it with is ONYX. I haven't had any...
  13. Thoughts on the new Epson SureColor printers??

The new epson is a beast. the S30 is more than 3x faster at a higher resolution (720x720) for the quality you're quoting, and still faster at 720x1440. the S50 nearly doubles that. It's also ridiculously good color gamut for a CMYK only printer. I'm not going to sugarcoat it, there have been...
  14. Lowest resolution for a banner

Scale is to size in photoshop or similar program, crop out an 8.5x11 section and print it on your desktop printer. It won't be color accurate, but you'll be able to show him the pixelation and image quality at that size. Or, if they have the time, ask your outsource provider to print a piece...

then do the import in parts: bring in vector text rasterize background parts (or fix them in AI and import nice ones) add the white spots
  16. complex file...not sure I should even attempt it

can you just import it as a raster, then add the white as a vector?
  17. Any MM's on here Caldera retailers?

Advantage Sign sells Caldera. I'm sure some of the regionals do too. Ben from Caldera finally moved to the US, and is a great contact for Caldera. He'll direct you to a good vendor.
  18. Good RIP computer?

I'd also recommend the Infinity line of computer from Advantage Sign Supply. I've seen them in several sign shops and they are very snappy to work with.

  20. Expired latex ink

i'd get with HP. they won't replace it, but they may be able to let you know if there is a workaround for using the inks. I haven't seen anyone get expired inks as of yet. It's probably a royal pain to even try to use.
