  1. How do I install "Printing to Adobe PDF"?

cutepdf is not a quality pdf distiller. The acrobat pro distiller engine is far, far superior. Also, OP, have you just tried selecting Adobe PDF from your available printers? That's how you select Print to PDF in most programs. If Adobe PDF isn't in your Printers list then reinstall it.
  2. SEO - Should you target the largest city near you or town?

The answer is optimize for every town and district in your service area but to make sure your actual location is prominent for Google Local rankings reasons. Complex topic but that's the simple answer.
  3. Storage?

A friend of mine is an engineer for Fusion-io, the storage solutions he gets to play with are insane. choucove I would think an imaging solution that only writes changes would be the obvious answer. Those numbers aren't too unreasonable really but can be cut way down with a write changes only...
  4. Wrap Material - Hate to start a new thread but...

Our installers love the 3951GRA/290G combo. Box trucks get 3551GRA.
  5. Ok you Apple Sheep !

Yep. Gates and Jobs were very friendly competitors. Both created amazing things.
  6. Ok you Apple Sheep !

When did I force someone? I don't care what anyone uses, I'm a "use what works for you" kind of person. That's why I listed my hardware--you'll see I use both Apple products, non-Apple mainstream products, and self-brewed. Simply answering the question asked. You'll put yourself into an early...
  7. Ok you Apple Sheep !

Sure thing. I got my start in graphics doing user interface designs for operating systems and apps. 1) Dislike the windowing system, prefer how each app is "sandboxed" in Windows instead of the messy Apple approach of the menu bar shifting depending on which app is open and child windows being...
  8. Anyone gone from eco-sol to HP Latex then back?

Intellicoat Pos Pro +200 works great.
  9. Cobian Backup Software

Cobian doesn't really do anything you can't do with rsync but it's not bad.
  10. Storage?

A SAN is a network of devices, a NAS is a single device. SAN is traditionally fibre channel whereas NAS is ethernet IP driven but the two approaches are seeing a lot of convergence so your confusion isn't uncommon.
  11. QNAP network storage

You should buy another 2 drives and put it in RAID 5. Good purchase, QNAP is solid. Don't host websites or anything from it though your NAS should only be accessible on your intranet and only be functioning as a NAS, not as a misc. services box.
  12. Wrap Material - Hate to start a new thread but...

We use Oracal 3951GRA with 290G overlam for full wraps and vehicle graphics.
  13. Using downloadable brochures on your website.

Really solid marketing. I know of 10 person shops that would kill for 60k/month right now. Good web presence isn't an option anymore, it's do or die. You've stepped up, great job.
  14. Color Correction and Matching Across Multiple Machines

If you're looking for a method to match colors across multiple equipment types and inksets you should take a look at G7.
  15. Npr

Why would you not admit it? Yes, I listen to tons of NPR. Planet Money, Marketplace Money most often plus our local shows/news. I catch Fresh Air, All Things Considered, Radio Lab, Science Friday on podcasts, Wait Wait if I'm in the car when it's on (love it but never remember to listen in)...
  16. Another sign shop somehow has my web site linked to his name

As I said in the beginning, SEO/Rep Management issue :). Your own site should easily outrank all of those sites and be the first hit in search completion. Especially for branded searches. It's really not hard to rank a sign business as the industry is so full of crap ancient websites. Wait...
  17. Big Brother - and not from the gov't

Doesn't apply as it's a private network, at least that's how the courts view it right now. Personally I think internet providers should be regulated as only dumb pipes and fall under utility classification. The DoJ is toothless though and ISPs are more concerned with their own content than they...
  18. ips monitor calibration?

I actually really hate the "point to a swatch" method but it works for shops with walk-in/non-imaging professional clientele.
  19. Burgers for Boobies! LOL

Makes perfect sense, nothing about the copy is incomprehensible.
  20. Spec Work

Spec work is evil. Even if it's a company you have a developed relationship with, they should respect you enough to pay up front. Any reasonable person understands that. Those that don't...aren't reasonable so who cares what they do, let them feast on some other sucker. Saying no to spec work is...
