Welcome Paul and good luck with your sign biz! I'd be willing to come out and work with you for a week or two if you had Charger tickets you wanted to share.

How large? Would cast be better for something like this? I would think a good Autocad designer could lay this out. Not familiar with 3-D progrmas but I'm sure Autocad does this. I'll show it to our Architectural Designer on Monday and post his comments.

From what I've learned so far, speed and how many passes are essential to good routing without error. We just replaced the gaskets and filter on our table and need to determine the most cost effective router bit pricing. Anyone used Hartlauer Bits? Heard they were reasonably priced and good quality.
Are there any books on routing that will discuss how to route certain substrates and ti[ps n tricks to help avoid trashing your inventory when you first start out operating a router? We have a Sabre 408. I don't run the router but thought it would be some good knowledge to read up on.

408
We have a 408, not sure what we use to run it though, I will ask the operator and let you know. We create all artwork sent to it from Illustrator. Our operator does a good job of routing materials and I especially like the prismatic letters he routes.
Actually Fred I was looking forward to stopping in when in West Palm but a couple weeks before her graduation I decided to give my ticket to my other step-daughter so it could be the girls outting together so I never made it down. I would not have enjoyed all the shopping that went on so I would...
My daughter is living in West Palm after graduating College in December and makes twice that babysitting. With zero temps and snow cover for a few weeks you kinda forget about the season changes but I'll hangout here anyway.
Enjoy the Superbowl everyone!
The thread was called "Name that font" around 6/19/03 and I was able to find it on signweb but the attachment was gone. Searched for it here without success. I'll be going after a digital pic this week.
Sorry if I seemed lazy, I could have searched on my own, I have never used that function. I did a search for every thread I started and nothing came up. I had asked for FONT HELP or IDENTIFY FONT in the original post I believe and never came up with it. Since there was an attachment maybe Eli...
Nope
THis was a thread I started and posted a pic of the font to match. It was an Arial type font with some unusual shapes on certain letters. It would have been late last summer in July or August.
FRed several months ago I posted a thread asking for help on a font. Do you have that thread archived? It was before you purchased Signs101. I'm still wanting to identify the font, it's been bugging me every since I couldn't match it specifically. I can get another photo if needed, just thought...
Just chiming in...
Because I love chemetals. Chemetals are great laminates for signs or architectural stuff. I like the copper look on Bar Cabinets. Brian please post that pic when completed, we've never routed dibond either. While on the routing subject I do have one question. Is there a good...
Closer than what I've found thus far, which was Eccentric. I need it for some custom cast aluminum letters so I might be able to pass something close. Who offers the best deal on purchasing fonts online? I'll need to buy whatever comes closest.
Thanks,
Mark
Exterra
I would agree with you but they do offer a brand called Exterra which supposedly is for outdoor use, I'm still not fond of it which is why I was asking about alternatives. Thanks for the info.
Mark
I agree with Fred, learn digital from your outsource first and master the vinyl plotter in house, then once your digital business will cover the overhead move into your own machine, chances are alot of things will change by then. Rick has a great point about your experience. Knowing a few...
