  6. What brand of vinyl do you use?

Those of you using FDC do realize they're a converter right? I believe they convert 3M for most and they have a warehouse in South Bend area. I heard the shinerite was decent, not tried it yet. I've always liked avery and 3M and some colors of Oracal. My favorite color is a MacMark Electric...
  7. CE vs. FC?

Thanks guys, if I were to get into production work I'd upgrade but for now I'd just be satisfying my own thrill of signmaking so a CE sounds fine. I just didn't want to jump into a machine with alot of problems or limitations.
  8. CE vs. FC?

I'm wanting to purchase my first plotter, if I were to choose a CE3000 what would I be missing from an FC machine which I have used while working for others? I do love the Graphtec FC's but would only want to upgrade to one if I took my love for signs beyond my own garage. I should ask someone...
  9. New Member On Board

Nothing cheap about digital printing if you want a quality product, I recommend you stick to outsourcing and if you ask, some members might be able to help you out with wholesale digital printing. I know there is a large format company in NC that offers a decent product can't remember the name...
  10. Repair advice/help

There's a guy in Louisville who installed a machine at my old employer, he was pretty good. Let me find his info and I will PM you with it. If he can't he may know who can take a look at it. MAB
  11. Knock, Knock, Knock anybody home?

I live near Indy and IMS does alot of sign work and the weird thing is when the Formula race comes to town they black out everything at the track that doesn't endorse Formula One. "Fosters, Australian for beer" doesn't exactly fit in with the Brickyard 400. Welcome to SIGNS101 racefan!
  12. Wall Easel anyone?

The easel I worked on when I first started in the sign biz looked similar and it was a 4'x16'. I like a wall easel for most applications but it seems the trend is for prep tables these days.
  13. Wall Easel anyone?

How many of you use a wall easel for vinyl application instead of or in addition to a table?
  14. Entry level CNC router

I'm only interested in router to cut aluminum shapes and router text out of .125 aluminum, will this Shopbot machine handle production of this type? Mark
  15. Entry level CNC router

I just read about the practical CNC Router, can anyone else provide any feedback for it? Mark
  16. Precision Board

I would still use FSC-88 its a great product as a primer filler. Precision board will have more pitted areas because it has more air bubbles than signfoam during manufacturing, so I'm told. Good reason to use FSC-88 first. Let us see the end result! Mark
  17. Im new here...

Welcome Barry! Fords have power? lol Sorry I'm a Chevy kinda guy but shhhhh my wife drives a Windstar. I feel a little new here too after being absent a while. I like the new look!
  18. Signfoam

Thanks for the replies! We just made one with two pieces of 1'' signfoam and used all-thread rod, this one was going into a post arm so we counter sunk the bolts on top and used painted sleeves to hide the all-thread rod. I just quoted another signfoam sign of the same type and plan on using...
  19. Signfoam

What is the best way to create a hanging mount for a two-sided 2'' signfoam sign to hang from a scroll? The sign is 30''x40''.

Thats a good story Ian, and better than it being named after who created it. I'm still trying to find that Mr. Murphy to ask him about his law. hehe Mark
