I had this happen randomly one morning... just so happened the tech was coming to look at my roland that same day. He came, told me to update my firmware/software, we did that and it started printing fine again.

I had the same problem, especially in black.. sent a test print to my tech and he made a custom profile based on the 3m1080 or whatever one it is and that solved the problem 100% the other things folks mentioned definately improved my quality, but in the end it was the profile

agreed, I was gonna say put the horse and other carousel themed things along the sides of the cake both look good though

Not sure if its the same.... but on my versacamm, you can change a setting to let it run without a certain color ink. And according to my technician, as long as you keep the cartridge in, you will have no problem I learned this trick after getting one foor away from finishing an 8 foot long...
