I have an FC8000, and I use 3M 8518 gloss lam on most of my vinyl and don't have any issues reading marks. The only thing that gives me any issues is the reflective vinyl.
Have you tried using the automatic mark adjustment? The plotter will scan a mark and adjust the sensitivity automatically...
Oh yeah... they're all over Jacksonville and Orange Park.. One of the guys near the St. Johns Town Center even made it on the local news because of his "skills".
Everyone I talk to say it's very effective and well worth the cost.
I have an FC8000 and a Roland XC-540... the Graphtec is WAY better for perf-cutting than the Roland.
Here's what I use... I think they are the defaults for Condition 3, I only changed the blade depth and force

Well I've got a job that requires Avery Bottle Green translucent vinyl... A6682-T
Unfortunately it's a special order and I'd have to buy an entire 50yd roll.. really don't want to buy 50yds of Avery film unless I have to.
So does anyone have this in stock and care to sell me a bit?

Yeah... that's the trusty bucket... I don't know why the hood was up, to be honest with you. I know the truck had been sitting for about 6 months before we brought it to that site, but it ran fine there and back.
You're right though... it's always nice to have equipment failure on a job site...

The message center is a Daktronics Galaxy 3500 Series. This display has a 20mm pixel pitch and a monochrome (4,096 shades) amber matrix.
