Hmmm... That leaves a 1 in 3 chance, but it's more accurate than that. I also waited different amounts of time. It does explain why it's only accurate when I actually do the math rather than simply pick a number, though.
If you're stuck using canned profiles (no spectrophotometer) try using profiles meant for a different medium or brand name. I haven't found any profiles off the shelf that work as well as they should.
I've read the problem is that the magnetic stock has an ill affect on the print head. I haven't even tried using the magnetic stock because it's so thin and weak. It's similar to the stuff you can run through your desktop printer. Barely supports it's own weight.
What I did was open it in Acrobat pro and flattened it under advanced print production options. Normally I flatten in Illy, but the file size grew too large to send it back to you. If you use Illy you can direct select the problem object and under "Object" select "Flatten Transparency". Be sure...
