  1. SignGold vs. Vinyl efx Gold

The vinylEFX product might work OK for straight cutting. They sell it as printable but my tests with their premium 5-7 year version of the silver foil did not pan out well at all. The inks will easily deform the material and cause it to lift within a month or so.
  2. RIPing Failure w/ FlexiSign 7.6v2

If it's hard drive space, clean out some of your older unused jobs from the hard drive. Since you've already increased the ram it seems like the logical next step.
  3. helmet

A different helmet, but here's how I did my last hardhat wraps. A partial wrap worked best for these.
  4. Safety Standards Question

    Cheers!
  5. Safety Standards Question

I have a client who requires some safety decals for some equipment he manufactures and am unsure of the correct standard to use for this particular application. The equipment consists of a large box (container) covering the mechanicals on a heavy duty trailer frame. On the top of the box are...
  6. what would you spend your money on ??

Have you considered having the JV3 refurbished with new heads, pump, capping station, etc? They still seem to be a very good printer. With the lower cost of the heads on your machine it would probably be cheaper in the long run to rebuild the unit you have.
  7. "Oh Buddy, you are WAAAY off!"

I have one customer that I've been dealing with for close to 15 years now. We do a nice 76-88 page color catalogue for him every year. He's left us twice over the years. Both times because his "wife" knew somebody who could do it cheaper. The first time he took two years to come back, the...
  8. Sign Brackets

More coroplast and some duct tape and call it done. Or did you want to supply them something professional?
  9. Is it customer's fault or mine

It's really dependent on how you present the "proofs" to the customer. If you're not 100% clear that they accept responsibility for any mistakes that are not corrected at the proofing stage then it's a muddy situation and becomes a customer service issue. If you are 100% clear, then no...
  10. "HOW DO I ADJUST lm lc IN POSTERSHOP? HELP!!!"

Your Lc will be part of the cyan channel and the Lm will be part of the magenta channel in how the rip handles those inks. They are not typically broken out as a separate channel since they're just a lighter shade of the same ink. Both inks will be used to create the channel with the C being...
  11. Another what would you do scenario

Subject to 20% restocking fee for materials ordered.
  12. Us tech laminator

Considering how fast a cheap laminator can ruin a days worth of prints you've made a wise choice.
  13. Mimaki Get Off your A--.

I'm going to have to try those guys out. They'll save me over $2600 in parts alone. How quick was shipping?
  14. Mimaki Get Off your A--.

I just got a quote to replace dampers, pump, head and capping station. Including labour the cost was $4770.00 Mimaki's asking $67 per damper here in Canada and the printhead was $2600 alone. Somebody needs to hook a brother up with a reliable asian parts supplier. Thankfully my firmware is...
  15. Us tech laminator

You'll be happy with the GBC. It's a great laminator. It'll save you enough time and money that you won't have to sacrifice your beer budget.
  16. Anyone Else Think?

Could you have been shipped a capping station that isn't solvent friendly? Also your cross contamination may be due to an incorrect capping station height that's parking the heads a little low into the foam and allowing any negative pressure to draw ink into the head from the pads in the...
  17. Printing 'red' in ColoRip, and Roland SP300

100M 85Y is what I've used over the years in the offset world to produce a more vibrant red rather than the orange looking reds that come from 100M100Y.
  18. Ecosol Black only longevity

Uhm yeah, sure. I'll get right on that for you.
  19. Ecosol Black only longevity

I have a large banner with black only text I need to create and rather than use adhesive vinyl I'd prefer to print the banner but am concerned about the longevity. I know the pigments in black inks tend to last the longest though. Can I realistically expect 5 years out of the ink if I'm laying...
  20. How much money do people make in this business?

Jeez I wanted to post in this thread earlier but I got lost on my way back to the computer. These 12' high stacks of hundred dollar bills laying around the office have turned the place into a bit of a maze. Oh well, it's a nice problem to have I suppose.
