I soak them over the weekend sometimes.

I clean the machine daily at least-around the heads, capping station, wiper and wiper assembly. On Mondays it gets a more rigorous cleaning. The machine will prompt you to change the wiper(s). Although, if you notice any bows, rips or tears in the wiper, you should replace it immediately.

I've heard good things about R Vinyl's solvent-printable chrome, also.

I mainly use 360x720 8 pass bi-di with fantastic results. Every now and again, I'll kick it up to 720x720 8 pass bid-di for really small detail or art repro-type stuff. Running Flexi RIP, btw.

It can definitely be done. Create your oval. Convert the shape to outlines. Use the text on path tool.

I assume you are using Flexi to RIP/Print? In order to contour cut around a bitmap, you will need to define a vector path that will be the cut line. Now onto making the path. If you're comfortable in Photoshop, you can make a selection in Photoshop, convert it to a path and export the path...

Yes. I typically set large bitmaps to 8.5x11 and rasterize them @ 150 ppi, then send to my desktop printer. Otherwise, large bitmaps will freeze up the printer or eventually print upside-down.

We have a 160 FX that works great including contour cuts. Before this one, we had another Mimaki for 12 years or so. It still runs great.

Have you tried exporting as an .eps rather than .ai?

The JV3-160S is a workhorse. We also run the Triangle bulk ink system. Fantastic machine.

I'm not a fan of Flexi's resampling abilities, etc. If you created the art in Flexi, I'm assuming it's vector? Export as an eps and bring into PS. Rasterize it at full size to 150 ppi. Or you can do it in Flexi. I think it's called resampling under the bitmap menu.

Depending on your skill level, you could probably peel and stick even the most thin 4" decals without laminate or transfer tape. Keep in mind that the vinyl may be a bit soft immediately after printing and that waiting a day or so should remedy that. I would suggest Orajet 3651. Laminating...

Not sure about v8, but in 7 you can choose CMYK colors to make up the gradient and still have the Gradient Color Mode set to RGB. Check the Gradient Tab.
